Set Chip screwup
« on: May 13, 2020, 09:34:56 AM »
I asked about changing the payout percentage on a Whales of Cash.  I got advice to not do it, it would be difficult.  Like a dummy, I did it anyway.  I am using set chip 6.03.10.  The logic board is an xp.  I put the riser with the chips on and turned the machine on.  I cleared the ram.  I shut the machine off, and remove the set chips, reboot the machine.  Now it tells me that cannot clear static ram and game cannot be played.  EEPROM error!  Run setchip program.

I am out of ideas, and wife is breathing down my neck.....HELP

The setchip depends on the game you are using.  You either have the game type/variation/denom wrong, or the setchip is the wrong type.  You really need to know all those parameters before you perform a clear so you can set it back up.  What options did you select in the setchip menu?  Maybe someone else with the game will chime in.  I don't have any MK6 experience, only MKII and MKIII.  All these games require specific game type, variation, denom (multidenom or single denom) in order to be sucessfully cleared and setup.  The setchip version is also dependent on the game version and OS.  All this information is usually found on the PAR sheet for your specific game.  Getting the PAR sheet, though can be difficult.  But I'm speculating that a popular game like whales of cash, would be available somewhere.  Do you know your game id version?

My befuddled brain finally figured it out.  I switched to set/clear chips 6.02.20 from 6.03.10.  This worked great, and I was able to set the machine up and have it play as it should.  Thanks to those that gave me advice.  I appreciate it a lot!
