Bally S5500 changing game questions
« on: December 27, 2023, 12:16:59 PM »
So I have this Bally S5500 slant top that I got quite a while back. Ended up having to replace the MPU, fix the coin comparator module, and all has been good since then. It originally came with "All American", (SMI 7540) game, glass, reel tapes, and eproms. Later I had picked up "Stars and Bars", (SMI 7204) game, glass, reel tapes and eproms. This is currently running in the machine right now.

I had also picked up "Black and White Double Jackpot" glass, and reel tapes. I don't have the eproms for this game although a disc with the bin files for the U18 and U20 chips was included in the deal.

The glass has the 5 line payout, so it appears the possible correct SMI's that would apply would be 7904 - 7908.

I have an eprom programmer and an UV eraser since I use it for 2732 chips.

The questions are:

1. Is there an offset required for programming the 27c256 chips?
2. Is there anything that needs to be set in the options for 5 coins since the other two games I have are 3 coin?

I know there was something else I was going to ask, but can't remember now......lol, but thanks for any help!

Nothing to change in options for 5 line.

Thanks for clarifying that.

Ordered new eproms and a newer programmer and got the Black & White Double Jackpot going.

I now have 3 game sets to switch around.
