Bally Alpha Compatibility chart??

I understand a member posted a "chart" or "list" that had most (all?) of the Bally Alpha games and listed what worked with what. Example: What OS's worked with game titles, etc (What OS was needed to run Lightning Jackpots). And what CLEAR CF's worked on which OS's (a 335 Clear is needed on a 336 OS, not a 317). Very useful if you wanted to change your machine to a different game. I had an Alpha Super Fireball Frenzy that I wanted to convert to a Hot Shot Progressive. But I needed to know if my 317 OS would work with the Hot Shot or I needed a 336 OS.  Another... If a V20/32 Fireball cabinet would run with a 512 Brain Box with dual video card ADDED or I needed 1 gig brain box with dual video card.Anyone know of such a charts existence?

The chart shows progressive set ups with game part numbers. PM me with your email and I'll send the PDF file. As for what games go with what, generally the size of the game card and date of the game will tell you. If you have a 2008-09 or newer 1gig CFC game, you'll probably (not always) need a 1gig box with expanded PC3200 DDM400 memory. Older 2005-2007  512meg or less CFC games will run on an older 317 OS with a 512 box. The OS are also dependent on the hardware they were attached to (newer OS's were designed to work with newer ticket printers, progressive interfaces, network switches and DBA's, etc).


If you want to be able to "run everything" an Alpha will run, best thing to do is purchase a 1gig box with 2gigs of RAM installed from one of the many fine Vendors here on NLG. I'm buddies with several of them.

I just purchased a 1GHz MPU (Board PCA204934-0-0, I think) with BIOS #AVBBP26SIMPU-07 and OS card AVOS000000336-05. Those numbers don't align on the MPU_Compatibility_Matrix that Coors posted. They're close, but not perfect. Does that matter?


Also, I don't have a clear card. Do I need one?

You should be ok.  Try putting a game in it, if it is the wrong OS, the machine will give you an error  I've used OS 341 with SIMPU-05 with no issues.  You will need a clear 335, and yes you should always keep a clear handy, sometimes you will have events that can only be fixed with a clear.

Another place you could look at that I came across is: go to "Main.gov"   And then like gambling control board and then sub category,  chip approval list under Bally. It has a nice listing of many of the  games by name and what  goes with what. Slotski
