PE+ Field Service Manual or steps to clear codes
« on: March 17, 2024, 07:10:56 PM »
Well this PE+ drop in was working well until I tried to install a couple of manual switches to bypass the lid and belly door optics.

I was using a piece of tinfoil bunched around the belly door optic to bypass it. That fell off. .So i tried doing what someone recommended here... jumped wire 1-2 and 3-4 on the machine side of the optic switch. Seems to do nothing.. but DOES seem to cure the DOOR OPEN message if I jump 1-4 but leave 2-3 disconnected.

The lid switch doesn't seem to do anything anymore no matter which polarity I wire it as.

Now dropping coins in just dump out all coins.

Message on the screen says "CLOSURE" "RESTART" which seems will disappear after a game is played but right now screen says COINS IN 20, CREDIT 0.

I tried donating to access the downloads section in hopes the Field Service manual would be there so I could understand proper process on how to reset any error messages... but the manual doesn't exist there so I wasted $10 that I could have just bought a manual online somewhere.

Does anyone have a link to the PE Plus Field Service manual or can shoot it to me in PM please.

Ready to just push this thing out to the curb instead of guessing every time an error pops up.

Thanks.

There's field service manuals in the PE section, did you miss them?

Previously I was able to bypass the top/lid switch by just connecting the optic wires in the correct polarity.
Seems now though, connecting those wires either way have no effect so when I'm trying to adjust settings with the belly door open using the test switch I'm only able to go through the self tests but not change and of the game settings like max coins in, etc.

the plan was to wire 2 latching pushbutton switches onto the side of the machine. one for the lid and one for the belly door but like i said, the lid switch wires seem to be doing nothing now no matter how I connect them.

You can't change any settings if there are credits on the machine.

If you have by passed the door open - you need it to be sensing open to change settings.
If you can't afford to lose you can't afford to win.

Thanks.
I 'bypassed' in that I added a toggle switch between what used to be the lid optics.

Then I added a toggle between the jumper from pin 1 and 4 of the belly optics (seems the 2 inner pics didn't complete the circuit in self test.. only the 2 outer pins)

I realized I had coins in although it said 0 credits.

What's confusing me now though is why the lid switch no longer seems to register (where previously I had these 2 wires connected. But I can't remember now white polarity it was or which switch in the self test those 2 wires represent (which used to be connected to one side of the lid optics since the other side was missing when I got it)

Now seems to not matter if I have these connected or not or which way (polarity) they're connected. I'm not seeing any change on the screen or in self test mode.

after I retoggle the belly switch i get the standard CLOSURE RESTART but if I turn the jackpot key I can view the statistical meter screen.

I'd like to sell this as working but if I can't figure out how to just make the thing PLAY without solving a rubiks cube, I'm not going to sell it to someone else and have them messaging me 20 times a week.

Also not trying to read the entire manual cover to cover either for something I don't plan on keeping.  hence my frustration with the thing.

Restart comes on when the machine is turned on.
Closure comes on when the door is closed.
These are informational
Both go away when the first game is played.

When the machine is ready to play (door closed) and you turn the jackpot reset key you go to stats mode.

When the door is open and your using the white test button to get to different option settings the use of deal and the jackpot key is contextual to the option you are messing with.

The other use of the jackpot key is when you hit a large award that exceeds the hopper limit.
Ie 400 coin hopper limit - you hit for 600 coins the machine acts goofy and if equipped rings the jackpot bell. You use the jackpot key to reset the win and pay off your player with a giant cheque.

If you can't afford to lose you can't afford to win.

ok. so far so good... and thanks Jay for your help here...

I'm still confused why suddenly those wires for the top of the machine have no effect unless they're also somehow linked to the belly optics which now is jumped from pin 1 to 4.

I guess it's fine and I only need a single toggle to close of open the belly door switch.

I also couldnt figure out why it would keep spitting out coins which I thought was related to the top lid switch but randomly fiddling with it in no particular order seems to has it accepting coins again.

i've disconnected the payout button so I don't have to worry about someone hitting that with 1000 credits on the machine.
can this also be fixed/addressed but setting the hopper size to something like 40? then anything above that has to have a reset for hand pay?

on another note.. I got tired of searching for answers manually in the manuals so I created a custom GPT on chatGPT that references the program and service manual to answer questions.

Also if anyone needs one, I had to recreate the glass bezel graphics... I think these are from the original "Four of a Kind Bonus Poker" game, not sure.
I tried tinting the glass on my machine to hide the screen burn. put it outside to dry and the sun cracked the glass down the middle. *cue frustration rage*

The image is on an 11x14 page because I sent it to walgreens to print on an adhesive poster (for 8 bucks) and I'll sandwich it between 2 pieces of plexi.

I'm probably going to recreate the multi poker side glass now so it's the right one... unless there's a scan in the files section
