I'm surprised no one has chimed in on this one yet. Have you tried the 555s yet? I bet they work just fine. Lower current draw on the machine is a good thing. I have replaced many of my incandescent lamps with LEDs, but my bulbs are mostly home made. The biggest issue with LED replacement bulbs is that the lamp needs to work with AC volt also. As many folks already know LEDs need DC to work and the reverse voltage of an AC power source will eventual damage a LED bulb if its not designed for AC. The better LED bulbs will have a rectifier inside the base. I scored several off Flebay. Look to insure they state AC/DC operation at the correct voltage. It they advertise "if the bulb wont light- turn the bulb around" that is bad, it is not for AC operation.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Mark
