Finding the Test Button S+ Wild Cherry
« on: June 22, 2020, 06:04:55 PM »
Hello,  first post here and a slot machine newby to boot.

From reading the S+ faqs on this (excellent) forum I expected to see a test button immediately to the left of the power button.

There is no test button there.

The power button in this machine is mounted to the right of the coin hopper in the bottom of the cabinet.

I noticed a white button on the MPU chassis.  Could this be the test button?

Btw, I'm trying to see what game prom is installed in my machine as described in the S+ FAQ documents.

thanks in advance...

S plus does not have a test button on the mpu. S2000 does not have a low mounted power switch. I'm thinking early S plus without a BV. Pics would definitely help as Darell suggested. Sometimes the test button is on the back side of the power switch housing.

I think that is a S slot based on all the wires that come out of the MPU on the left.

I thought so.  The tag says 1991.

IGT sure made model identification confusing.

Thanks RB.

So if I press this I should be able to get the SS# to display in the credit window as the S+ FAQ document describes?

Yes keep pressing white button until you get a 4 in coins played window.

You can pull straight up on that black knob and remove the mpu/tray.

With the power off.... don't pull anything with the power on.
The reason to pull the MPU tray is to physically read the chip numbers or change the chips to another game.

That's an early S+ for sure.

These models had the motherboard and MPU on the left wall off the cabinet, small buttons on the deck.

A few years later, IGT moved the motherboard and MPU towards the back wall when they came out with a better swap-able power supply box and larger deck buttons.

The power switch & test button were also somewhat combined and moved up later to underneath the reel shelf from the older positions of next to the hopper slide and MPU tray.
