Wiki type information on slots?
« on: October 20, 2014, 10:57:45 AM »
Hey folks,
I am somewhat uninformed on slots (I have 2 Bally 6000s, an IGT S-Plus and an S2000).

Is there a location where I can read up on what the features and/or differences are on particular slots? For example, I want to know what the differences are between an IGT S2000/Vision/I-Game or Bally 6000/9000/Alpha etc.... Since there are no local dealers for me, I'd like to know what I am looking for when scouring ads. There is one dealer I've dealt with out of Ohio but I want to know what to tell him that I am interested in.

Thanks.

Maybe if you post what you are looking for in a machine?  Honestly, most of the time, the decision comes down to which title you want to play.  It's not like an Xbox and PS3 where the platforms matters very little aside from a few titles that are exclusive.  In the case of slot games, all titles are exclusive, so you have to decide which game themes you want the most, and that will make the decision for you as far as which platform to get.  In General, right now, the machines that are easy to get and have the most availability of software for the home market are WMS bluebird 1 or 2, Bally Alpha S9000E's or V20's, IGT S2000 and Igame Plus/Gameking.  Ideally, you get one of each so you don't have to compromise :stirthepot: :stirthepot:

I am in Maryland. So getting machines (must be 25+ years old) is a little more difficult. I usually buy games at a pinball convention I visit yearly in York, PA.

Yeah, I know. I don't want to turn into a 1000 question pest. Though these forums are by far the friendliest around.

I actually don't know what I want. I am not a slot player. I like having them in my home though. I have had mostly Bally 6000. (I've had 3). Currently I have a Winning for Dummies, (I think it is like bonus frenzy) Wild Times (bonus game that goes up top) and I Dream of Jeannie S2000.

I like games with some kind of bonus. The Winning for Dummies has a 4th bonus reel. The Wild Times has a bonus, but IDOJ does not. But I really like that theme.

I'd like something with an LCD. From what I thought was true, I believed IGT Vision to be an S2000 with an LCD. But I've seen IGT Vision games advertised without an LCD.
I think that I want a Munsters, but I want one with Reels/LCD or the I-Game. Outside of that, I am not very familiar with what is out there. I am limited to watching videos on YouTube.

Thanks.

Do you want a video slot or a mechanical reel slot.  If you like mechanical reel slots with LCD top boxes and bonuses, then an Alpha Elite S9000E is the best bet for you.  Easy to find parts and game kits for it and you don't have to bother with heavy glass kits.  Almost all the games have some sort of bonus round and or free spin games.  The Quick Hit and Hot Shot series are really popular and offer good gameplay.  IGT Vision is really old and finding additional games for that platform is difficult to say the least.  The generation after that was call Reel Touch, and it has and lcd top with touchscreen like the Alpha Elites, but again, getting kits to change out the game and parts for these are difficult to obtain.  Bally Alpha would be your best bet in my opinion.

If you like video slots, I'm a huge fan of wms bluebirds.  There are a few hundred  games available for that platform and a lot of them are  really engaging and fun with a lot of variety.

Igames are cool, but getting games for that platform can get expensive.  The only reason to get into that platform in my opinion is for gameking multi-game sets.  The way I see this platform, is get it for the gameking, and the igames that you get your hands on are a bonus.
