Red Screen - Error

Hi. I had my IGT G23 AVP turned off for awhile.
I turned it on and it first had a green screen. I turned the attendant key to reset as asked. It then went to the red screen.
I turned the attendant key to clear as asked. It rebooted…went to the two AVP screens then straight to the red screen.
Any ideas what this means? I do have a diagnostics key and an ekey.

What happens when you turn the key again at the red screen?

It reboots…initializing system, then the double AVP screens, then the red screens.

It's stuck in a loop then.  You can try to clear the cabinet and safe storage memory with the diag and see if it boots up after that.  If it does you'll need to check your settings and re-enable your games.  If it still won't boot then you'll likely have to wipe everything and re-install the OS and games from scratch.

Would “clear the cabinet and safe storage memory” delete any of the games on it?
I can’t reinstall any of the games. They were installed when I ordered the machine. They didn’t give me anything with the machine. Bought the ekey and diagnostics key later on but through a different party. The machine worked fine for months until this.

No, it won't.  Just make sure you don't wipe the hard drive too, only those two.  Then your OS and games will be intact, but you'll have to check and maybe change some settings and re-enable the games that are installed assuming it boots up ok after clearing the memory.  If possible you may want to contact whoever you got the machine from and see if you can get back up copies of the software installed on the machine.

I've had the same thing happen to mine a couple of times too.  Play it, shut it down, power it up the next day and get the red screen of death.  Not sure why unless maybe it was in the middle of updating files and shutting it down at that moment results in corrupted files.  That's the only thing I can think of that makes sense to me, but I don't know if that's really what caused it or not.

Ok good luck!  No, what I was referring to is the tasks the Operating system performs in the background when the game is on.  If it was updating a file when it was shutdown it could cause problems.  That's just a theory, I don't really know since I don't know how the OS works.  The only thing you may have done is shut the machine off at the wrong time, but you have know way of knowing that, and neither do I.
