« on: June 06, 2015, 05:52:38 PM »
Hi All, I am more of a Bally guy so I have 2 simple questions. Can I use a Bally 3.6V Tadiran battery on a S+ board ? and second once I replace the battery do I have to do a clear like the Bally machines ?

Yes it is the same battery and you will get a 61 code push self test button you will get 61-1 close all the doors turn the reset key and it should be good
If you have a bill acceptor you will  need a set chip to activate it

After you complete the first task, install the set chip, push self test change 9-0 to 9-1 with spin reel self test again use spin reel to change to your denomination close all doors the machine will reset and all should be good

Hey, just a heads up, if the 61 code continues to come back after it disappears, it's a comm problem between the CPU and Motherboard.  I used to fix this by changing the 8 pin chip on the motherboard to a new one or simply replacing both boards at the same time.  I believe this is the trickiest problem you can ever get on an S+

is there any link that shows how to do a clear and set chip procedure ?

CLEAR chip procedure (only necessary if you're stuck in the "61 loop" -- where your 61 turns to 61-1, then goes back to 61, etc.) -- start on line 63 at the bottom of this page: http://www.ohiogaming.com/replacementinstructions.htm

SET chip procedure (to enable the dollar bill validator and set the denomination) -- step 31 on the previous link, or this FAQ: http://www.newlifegames.net/spset/dbv.htm

Easiest is to just check what SP chip you are running and then download the PSR for it from the NLG File System. It will tell you what menu page the option is on. There's a sticky at the top of the S+ forum for Common options that tells how to decipher the PSRs and navigate them.

thanks my game chip was SP1160 and got this bad boy running 95% now. Only problem left is I can seem to get the DBV-45-SS to work, seems to be dead, no light..... nothing. I did go into the settings and the bill validator is set on and set to 37 for US bills. Is there a chip in these like the wba's ??
