Wrong S+ Coin Acceptor?
« on: May 21, 2018, 01:46:43 PM »
My first questions as a new member. I have a Double Diamond Deluxe that has an IDX X-10 coin acceptor that is not connected electrically. It also sort of flops around on the mount, being held only with one screw and a spring. Once in a while, it moves far enough out of position that coins drop inside the case, missing the optic, so I get no credit, and I have to open the door and push it back into position. I see there is an extra screw hole on the bottom of the acceptor mount, but there is no screw in place. Should there be? Also, as I read the X-10 spec, it requires 12 VDC, but what seems to be the correct S+ connector is providing 24VAC, so I assume I would fry the X-10 if i created a wiring harness and hooked it up. I would like the acceptor to work so if extra coins are inserted they would go back to the coin tray, not the hopper as it does now. I understand from reading the forums that the correct acceptor is a CC-16D. Can I make the X-10 work, or should I look for the CC-16D?

Thanks for the help.

Welcome to NLG !    :waving_flag:

An X-10 will work in an S+ but the one you have may be the wrong model. Also, it is harder for many people to get it setup, the CC-16D is much easier. It sounds like someone rigged the X-10 so the inserted coin would pass straight thru to the coin optics boards, kinda like a jammed-open mechanical coin mech with no coin rejection ability. You can get a CC-16D from someone here for not a big cost. Or you can download the X-10 manual and maybe get it to work, it has to be programmed for the coin you want it to accept. But it has to have power, so if the X-10 you have is the wrong model then you'll need to get another coin comparitor.

Also, the coin comparitor should have 4 plastic mounting clips to hold it solidly in place, one at each corner. If yours are broken or missing then you can get replacements. Just post a message requesting what you need and someone will probably give you a price. Post photos of anything you aren't sure about, like that screw hole without a screw, that way we will know exactly what you have and what you need.
