Bally 5500 31 and 50 error won't clear
« on: July 28, 2014, 07:16:47 AM »
I changed boards, batteries, cleared it until my fingertips were raw from those tiny sharp little reset buttons. Had multiple 83f errors prior to now having the 31 and 50 errors. Hopper not jammed but won't move forward or backward with the Hopper test buttons. Is there a procedure I not utilizing ?  Thank you...Tom

If the hopper test buttons do not work you most likely need a hopper board or the hopper is mechanically jammed from dirt . Take the hopper apart for cleaning and inspection and see if it spins freely. Disconnect and reconnect all the electrical connections to the hopper board and motor. Could have some oxidation on the connectors.

Do you have another hopper you can swap in ?

31 probably wont clear till the hopper is working. 50 is door open and goes away after the the machine resets when the other errors are resolved.

Make sure the door is closed completely and the cherry door switch is activated and functioning. You can pull outward on the switch while the door is open to have the machine operate with door open.

Have you tried  pressing the white  reset button on MPU ?

Sunrise Side   Thank you for getting back to me.  You are absolutely correct. Bad Hopper. I checked it and cleaned it (the existing hopper) several times (a zillion times) but it still would not work. I just swapped it out with another hopper and everything is up and running after two weeks of resetting and clearing codes with no results. Thank you very much.  Tom

Great! Could be a bad board or bad motor. I've had to replace one or the other in the past to get the hopper to work.

yes, the motor runs smoothly on a 12 volt battery connected directly to the motor terminals.   Must be the board.  Thanks again ever so much...Tom
