is the problem getting the reset coil plunger to pull in and lift the pawls off the ratchet teeth, or is the ratchet/wipers not spinning easily?

hold in the reset plunger and you should be able to spin the wipers and let go .. they should whizz back to reset.

have you taken the ratchet out of the unit?  If so, did you use some kind of lubricant on the shaft when reinstalling?  If yes, what did you use?

The reset coil plunger is pulling in.  The ratchet/wipers are not spinning easily.  When first turning the machine on... yes..they whizz back to reset.

I have taken the ratchet out of the unit several times.  I have lubricated the shaft.  I have used no lubricant, an all purpose grease, and some generic gear oil... at different times..with varying amounts.  Cleaning before each application.

I have also adjusted the torsion spring during all this.  Varying between not tight enough to reset to zero (2/5 coin)..through so tight it wont register a higher pay count after 20 coins or so.
Currently set.."when cold", which works perfectly for almost an hour of continuous play, it can easily handle and reset from a 100 coin or 2 coin payout.

Max payout is 200 coins, but ill cross that bridge once I have this figured out..if ever. lol

Thank you sir!

that's pretty odd.   Either something is expanding with heat and binding the unit, or something on there is getting sticky with heat.

I guess I'd heat the thing with a hair dryer with the wipers off and see if the ratchet is binding.

did the ratchet shaft appear grooved, distorted or rough?

That's a great idea!  Thanks.

The shaft seems to be in really good shape.  Nice and smooth.

Sounds like it is heat related.

Possibly clean and polish the core shaft.
Inspect for debris, concentration of
grime and or shaft out of round.

Possibly the grime looks like part of the shaft or
shaft tube.
Also, expansion could be binding on the outer opposing parts.
Check for clearance and movement back and forth.
