Top Change light won't blink! Wiring?

The change button lights and flashes when pressed but the top candle won't illuminate.
Bulb is good.
Obviously it's somewhere in the wiring but I'm having trouble tracing the wiring. The service light works. Does anyone know if there's a common problem with this? I'm trying to follow wiring from each end but keep getting lost! I'd love to SEE a wiring diagram, but for the life of me, I can't find one yet... searching.
I haven't even had any wine yet!

So I'll reply to myself...
I DID manage to find and trace the black and yellow wires from the candle top to a plug where the colors became red with yellow strip, and black. I traced that to the mother board. I removed and re-seated all the connectors and looked for anything obvious. Still no light!

Isnt there a configuration in the set-up menu? I've seen it, but can't remember what platform it was on. I never even look at the candle, to be perfectly honest.

Well there is a candle configuration and I tried the other settings that were for the two stage candle but still no light!
I'm in the dark on this. No change yet!

Is the bulb that is supposed to be flashing a flasher bulb or can it also remain on steady? If both then there will be a circuit somewhere that controls the flashing or steady state, like on the mpu, I/O or someplace, right?

If it hasn't worked since you got the machine someone could have zapped the transistor or whatever part controls the light by pinching a wire going to the candle when mounting the candle after a move, or trying to change a bulb and twisted it or did something to short that line. Can you try another mpu or I/O or whatever card you think has the control circuit to prove where the problem is?

Also, did you trace the wiring from the Change button to whatever card it goes to? This would be what activates things to light the candle. There's more than 2 wires, right? 2 for the Change button lamp, and 2 for the switch itself. Do those switch wires go to one of the boards?


You can disconnect the candle wiring from the machine and put voltage on the candle wiring plug to see the bulb lite up, and verify all is ok with its wiring and the bulb socket and the bulb itself, but it sounds like you already are pretty sure all that is ok.

I tried both settings... steady and flash. The button light responds but top light stays off. That was my next step: try and trace the wiring from the switch...
What the heck is the voltage on the bally light...12? I should know this but I don't.

I never even look at the candle, to be perfectly honest.

For some reason, I like to try and make everything work and it's kind of fun to have challenging stuff too!
I keep thinking, if the light is on, someone will show up at the machine, with change.

Yah, I get that, but getting the game to work as it should, versus getting the candle to blink/light when you think it should are 2 separate things. Unless a candle is flashing throughout gameplay, I wouldn't give it a second look.

I definitely am happy I got this big golden Game Maker to work. I knew when I saw the CL ad that it was probably just the battery... I recognized the error message on the screen and was at their place by that same evening! I'm keeping this machine for myself and I'll sell my intermediate sized Bally. It's kind of fun to have all three sizes here at home now though, but I LOVE the bigger screen size.
