How to clear a coin jam in a coinless machine...
« on: June 05, 2015, 06:16:42 PM »
So - I just ran a clear procedure on an S2000 White Ice.  Why?  Because the Reel results haven't matched the combinations.  The reel test shows the wrong payouts, and the reel position test checked out fine.  So Assumed I had a wrong SB chip.  Replaced with the new 136 and same results.  Getting  wins on the wrong stops, and Losing on winning combos.  At this point, I know the reels are stopping in the right places, and I know I have the right SB (White Ice 3 coin, Single Payline)

So I ran a clear.  I won't say I regretted it yet.  The machine is configured for TITO and was working correctly prior to the clear.  I though I'd test the TITO before I checked the reel payouts, pressed the cashout button and have been locked up ever since.  So - How do I clear the Coin Jam error?

Further - Anyone have any ideas why my payouts don't match the reels?
Anyone have a good guess on what setting I missed in the machine setup post clear?

All help appreciated.

Battery problems? Just a thought. Wrong reel strips?? Did the machine work correctly before and suddenly gone off the map?

Battery problems?  Not likely.  The machine isn't behaving erratically.  Payouts are consistent but wrong.
Payout has never been right on this machine.  Reel Strips are a possibility.  I believe this machine was cobbled together at the last minute.  Casino tag said it was Triple Stars.

It possible the reel strips are on the wrong reels, or the wrong strips.  How does one identify the reel strips and the reels they should be attached to?

All this being said - the machine operated completely normally - just was paying out wrong.

Gotcha, We need to know the reel strip numbers. Unless White Ice is a clone of Triple Stars The strips aren't going to match the game chips. Maybe it's wrong game chips. Turn off the machine remove the mpu and post a pic of the game chips. We need to start somewhere. We'll get you going.

You would need to remove the strips to check the numbers as they are on the end of the strip under the joint. Normally they are placed in ascending numerical order but not alway

Its possible you may have the correct strips but not lined up with the notch on the reel when installing.

The Notches are aligned.  I checked the reel numbers and one of them doesn't match the other 2.  Guessing that may be the root of the issue.

Found the root cause on why it coin jammed.  My printer was disabled after the clear.

PROBLEM - Still don't know how to clear the coin jam.  Can't do a key chip reset to enable the printer because it tells me money is still in the thing.
Will get pictures tomorrow AM after my phone recharges.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

In your cause the odd numbered strip likely goes to the number 3 reel position, but there are exception, one recently if I recall. Post your strip numbers so someone with more knowledge can advise. I believe the odd ball can sometimes go to the number 2 reel position. As far as your coin in jam, do you have a jumper plug on the coin comparitor beau plug?

My printer was disabled after the clear.

Hello,

With a keychip, set your printer on ENABLE ( menu 7.2.2.1 ), and test with Coinless Mode on ENABLE ( menu 7.2.5 )

To get rid of the credits so you can key the machine, do you have another game SB chip laying around?  If so, replace your current SB with a different one.  reinstall the board, clear all the errors, like you are converting the game.  This will clear your credits.  Reinstall the original SB chip, clear all the errors, and you will have no credits so you can now keychip.

just went through this exact problem.  Besides enabling your printer, also make sure the machine is set to "coinless"

Two separate issues here
1) payouts wrong we can deal with this later.
2) coin in jam you must get this fixed first.

Coin in jam possible problems:
LED display is bad causing coin in jam or the door I/O card (the one at an angle) is not seated or has failed.

Remember do not unplug any cards with the power on

Still have coin jam error - below are this mornings steps.
I've attached a picture of the mainboard and all chips.

I do have an additional SB chip or two and tried swapping to another.  The Coin Jam still comes up and either it cannot be cleared or I don't know how to clear it.  I attempted to Key it, but that failed because there are credits on the machine.

I have a complete 2nd machine I can swap parts from.  Also 2 spare mainboards (depopulated).  Does anyone know where the credits are stored?  I'd have no qualms about swapping a mainboard, but that has been a last ditch.

I will swap the LED assembly and Door IO card from my functional machine.  (When you say LED, you mean the 7segment - not the Flourescent display right?)

Also, I will pull all strips and collect numbers.

Lifting one leg of the cmos battery will force a credit clear also. Did you confirm the beau plug jumper on the harness to the coin comparitor?

I'm not sure what this is - I have no coin comparator that I know of.  I assume that would be directly beneath the coin drop, on the inside of the door above the hopper chute.  Ahh, as I type it, I know what you mean.  There will be a wiring harness tucked away and should have a jumper or loop in place.  I'll check.

I swapped the LED assembly, and the IO Card from a known good machine. No change.
I swapped mainboards with a mb of unknown status.  Was not able to proceed - either bad MB or bad battery.  Machine wouldn't boot.
I have another spare MB to try - will try that and look for the coin comparator jumper.

Coin Jam is clear.  The solution required the battery to be removed.  Once removed, I ran a clear and re-setup the machine.  TITO and all other functions are normal.  Still have the payout mismatch.  I will close this topic and open a new one for the reel/payout mismatch issue.  Thank you all for your help  and suggestions.

I might suggest that in the Clear Instructions that Foster posted as a sticky - add the line to check that the printer is enabled.  It's added on my copy!
