Reset coin counters?
« on: August 10, 2015, 05:39:17 PM »
By my power switch there are 3 coin counters, is there anyway to reset them back to zero?

I don't believe the counters can be reset. Those were for the casino use. Welcome to NLG.

You are very welcome and we are glad you're here. I have never seen anybody comment about resetting meters. Sorry, you will have to count along with the rest of us.  :cool_thumb_up:   Have a good day.

If you'd like to start the coin counters (meters) over from zero, to maybe show the activity since you became owner of the machine, you could replace the meters with new ones. Sometimes meters fail and they are replaced with new ones, so they are available.

Other than that it might be difficult to open up a meter and turn it back to zero. They were built to resist tampering, the meters record the money activity and lots of people (casino management, state regulators, mob guys in the old days) want to know exactly how much the machine takes in and pays out and they don't want to worry about someone fudging the numbers. Many states get a cut of the gambling activity so they worry about accuracy of the machines record keeping. It is sort of like the odometer on your car. They are made to be tamper resistant so they show the true mileage of the car. Not impossible, but difficult to mess with.

You can erase the electronic meters and bookkeeping data that is kept in memory on the mpu board on many machines. That is usually an option in the settings.

rokgpsman's post contains some great information.

You can always just record their current readings, and then use that to calculate whatever you're interested in by making a simple spreadsheet on your computer.   :propeller:

Didn't think of the replace option  :thank_you:

Got the machine (Triple Diamond) off of Craigslist for free with a dead battery, temporarily connected 2 regular AA's to clear the code 12 and was met with code 61. After a few hours of reading here, I bought clear/set chips off of Ebay and it started right up. The real headache was getting the DBV-145 working, took me a few days of reading and trying different things. The dip switch had the stacker turned off  :duh: .

Now onto making the "change" button give free credits, read a nice post here describing how it's done ( I don't like my kids opening the case to grab more quarters/cash).

Thank you everyone here, don't think I would have been able to repair it without the vast amount of knowledge here.

.....Got the machine (Triple Diamond) off of Craigslist for free.......

Free!! what a deal, can't beat that! I guess the previous owner just wanted it gone. Did you find a bunch of old $20's inside, or maybe a few quarters?

Can you post a few pictures of it, I don't think I've seen his model. Is the overall condition pretty good?

I had to take it apart and clean it, it was half submerged last year during the flood that hit Michigan pretty bad. The only thing that the water damaged was the battery. The guy didn't want to take the time to replace the battery/repair it. Found about $3 worth of quarters scattered inside. The machine is from MGM Casino in Detroit, he never got the DVM working, or possibly would have gotten lucky with some cash in the stacker LoL.

Edit: It has one missing bulb for "Insert Coin" and the little black piece that holds the bulb in. There is a half inch crack in the outer cabinet, looks like the laminate possibly got snagged on something while being moved. I'd rate it as great condition overall.

The bulbs and bulb holders (lamp holders) are easily available from several sources. In the mean time you could take one of the other bulbs from somewhere not as important and install it in that location. I think they just twist-turn to remove or install.

I guess you've done a good visual on it inside in all the corners and any assemblies down in the part that was under water like the hopper, main transformer and other things down there. Hopefully you won't have any problems from the water contamination. Nice looking machine, especially for the price paid!

Here is one style of lamp holder, it may be the style your machine uses:

Put leds on the buttons and it will make it look more modern, instead of that yellowish tint.

I was reading about LEDs, but the thread said they were 12v diodes and my machine outputs 6v? I do like the idea, it looked good on the pictures supplied.
