S+ accounting?
« on: September 23, 2015, 07:33:33 PM »
My S+ has three counters mounted to the bracket just to the right of the reels and one hanging below those, stuck on with a strip of velcro.  What are each of these counting?

Usually it is financial info like number of coins in, coins out, etc. There aren't any labels nearby for them?

Yes, I surmised that was the function but no, there are no labels.  Of course I could try all the combinations of opening the door and checking how each increments but hoped I could just get a quick description?

Mine are listed top to bottom:  Coin in, Coin out, Coin drop and Jackpot.

Thanks Dave.  Obviously they were much more careful assembling your machine than mine (as well as the door closure opto difference)?

Ok, I can understand the first three as 1) total coin in, and 2) & 3) total coin out as well as the new delayed clatter I've heard with the DBV functioning (Thanks, Jim!).  But, I'm unclear on the "jackpot".  Is that the count increment for all hand pay amounts?

As a side question.  Any idea what the two beaned wire pairs that are also shown in the attached are for?  One is is Gray/ Green and the other is Orange/Yellow).  The Gray & Orange run up above the power switch.  That may be normal but it looks like a hack so I thought I'd ask?

Well from what I've read the jackpot meter reads all cumulative pays for jackpots. Coins, hand pays etc.. The 2 sets of wires are not in my machine, at least not visible. My guess is it was something in the casino that was removed. The telephone type connector looks like something done after a disconnect. My optics are just like yours, the angle just doesn't show them. That bracket has an unused cherry switch that I removed to take the picture. On your pic you can see the 2 screw holes above the optics. That's pretty much all I can think of. Unless anyone else has something to add. Hope it's working good for you and You know how to post if it's not.   :cool_thumb_up:

Ah, OK.  Now I see what you mean about the two screw holes.

It's working fine (other than a new reel rubbing noise ) but..

Forgive me but, as a newbie, what is a "cherry switch"?

Cherry is a brand of switch. It becomes the single name when referring to a switch in the machines. Kind of like bandaid instead of bandage. On the S+ machines they were used for Casino data. S2000s have them also but their only function now is to operate an interior light when the door is open. Although they can be wired to bypass door optics. I don't use mine that way, it's just an extra piece. Here's a pic of mine in the S+....

Scott, also check the inside of the door for wires rubbing when it's closed. Check the sides too. Maybe even in back. If things get to rubbing too hard you'll get a reel tilt. The tilt happens when something interferes with the spinning of the reel(s). If it starts acting funky start a new thread and we'll get it going.

Thanks for (yet another) clarification and the additional picture.  "Now I see", said the blind man. :duh:   I have one of those switches in my 831 that is also apparently bypassed as it appears to serve no function?

Wires out of the way.  Nothing that doesn't work.  Hopefully I won't have to post anytime soon that it doesn't!
