IGT S + doesnt pay correct amounts

double diamond doesnt pay the full amount shown in the credit window.  on a 5 credit payout, it sometimes pays only 4. on a 10 payout, sometimes 9. on a 20, sometimes 18 or 19. i hit a 25 payout and got only 20 quarters back.

i understand the coin optic sensor on the hopper counts the coins, and i imagine the hopper should run until it counts  a full payout, or give a 3300 error.  there is no error, it just pays short more than half the time.

check for the hopper knife, which is the part that removes the coin from the shelf wheel after the coin is counted.  If the knife is not there or is broken, the coin may fall back into the hopper after it has been counted.

ill check that.  i thought the coin got lifted by the knife, then passed thru the coin counter, but it makes some sense if the coin gets counted, then falls back in, i'd get a short payout.  i'll check that out. the knife was a bit screwed up. it wasnt flush against wheel and coins were not being ejected at all, causing a payout error. i heated the knife a little,  and got it flush, but i'll take another look. wheres a good place to buy a knife if needed?

Here's how it is supposed to work.  As the coin is about to exit, an arm keeps the coin from falling off the pinwheel, this is the area circled in green.  As it goes around, the red rubber keeps the coin from falling off as the coin is lifted from the pinwheel by the black hopper knife and the coin passes through the optic circuit to count (area circled in red).  Whatch the whole area circled in yellow, after the coin-out optic circuit, make sure there are no breaks, the coin should slide down the enclosed path  between the hopper wall and the silver plate that goes on top of the knife.  I have seen some hoppers  that are missing the silver plate that goes on top of the hopper knife, which makes some coins fall right back into the hopper.  plate is circled in blue.

you are dead nuts on, the silver plate that goes over the knife ( blue circle) is missing.  i think its called

, but i cant find it on the spin website.  any place else i can get it?
