Converting an iGAME into a GK
« on: December 07, 2015, 03:15:18 AM »
Hi,

My question may sound stupid but do I simply have to change the programs on the board to have GK games instead of an I Game original game?

Won't the various Igames deck buttons be an issue with Gk softwares?  Any comment will be appreciated.

Thanks for reading.

The short answer is yes, changing the game chips and sims is all you need to do.

I've went back and forth from a Game King to an IGame without any issues a few times now.  The buttons work fine, since the GK doesn't need them they don't do anything, but they don't cause any harm by being there.  The legends may need to change as the bet buttons become your draw/hold, but functionally no change is needed there.

The only other thing worth mentioning that I've seen is that the GK's take some time to configure if you like anything other than the default settings on your games.  Each game option and denomination can have it's own settings and the process can be tedious.  If you are going to swap between the two on a regular basis I would recommend getting a second dedicated board for the GK and reviewing the link below.  Even if you don't want to solder chips on your boards, by knowing how to swap the EEPROM on your backplane board you can save a ton of time when doing the swap.

The only other thing you may want to do if going from igame to game king is to add the bet one button, which is right next to the cash out button.  It is usually covered by a blank plate.  The button harness is already there, you just need to get the button and connect it.  Otherwise on some games, the only way to play is to bet max, which is usually not a problem since you can just open the cash can and add more credits when you are at home.

Thanks Rick.  I hadn't realized that.  Mine had the IGame buttons with the bet one already in place.  I guess the previous owners beat me to it and I didn't realize that was needed in the conversion.

The I Games have to have a touch screen monitor otherwise there will be no way to get into the GK menu. Am I right?

Ok, that means they all were equipped with a touch screen monitor. Thanks for the answer.
