My backplane board does not have words on it either. 3902 13" GameKing cabinet. There is an 8-pin port labeled J12. Is this Netplex? I could not find my particular machine in the NLG File System (I am a contributing member.)

No.  J2 on the top of the motherboard is the Netplex connector.

Bally Reel Games / Re: Bally 6000 sound board question
« Last post by ucanwin on Today at 08:06:09 AM »
Come on guys, isn't there anyone on this form that can answer my questions?
Also looking for  SMI chips 9716 or 9717 for this machine with no replies. Do I have the one and only Bally Beach Party slot machine?
Help is desperately needed. Thanks to anyone that replies.

Bally Electromechanical / Re: Bally 809-N
« Last post by wolftalk on Today at 07:49:48 AM »
809-N is a lightning model made for Kelly's Nugget casino.

the paperwork for it is on https://bingo.cdyn.com/slots/809-N/

generic manuals - which are mostly exploded parts diagrams - https://bingo.cdyn.com/slots/bally_manuals/

there's other stuff if you poke around in https://bingo.cdyn.com/slots/

while the bally 400 manual covers the 809's, the 2400 and 2600 manuals have updated information - especially if you have the newer parts on the right side of the reel mech.

yell if you want info on any specific issues.

btw, if you are in deep enough to access the flourescent tubes, please provide info on what generic part numbers they are (FxTy or whatever it says on the things).

IGT AVP (Including G20,G23) / Re: What type of buttons are these?

My guess is a couple of originals and the rest are chinese replacement buttons.

That’s encouraging. If you do have the problem again I would at least rock the eproms in the socket to wipe the pins in the socket, or lift and re-seat them. That often wipes oxidation from the pins.

Sounds more like a problem with the 1st bill entryway optic sensors on the head, doesn't it?
If there's a problem with those, or the heads' circuit board, I'd imagine the motors won't turn on - to pull in the bill.

I'm not an expert with bill acceptors...I just kind of know how things work, but I've always used coins on S+ machines.
I would wait for some input from NLG members that may have more validator experience than I, before you rush out to get another one.
Member Jim has better knowledge about these old bill acceptors...esp. testing them... maybe you could invite him to check out your Topic?

It won't attempt to feed any bill....

I would try to see if it will accept a one dollar bill.

If it does, then the firmware flashed to it needs to be upgraded so it "sees" the large headed bills....one dollar bills are the only ones around with the older small heads on them.

From the JCM DBV-200 Bill Validator Operation and Maintenance Manual (Rev B) (I acquired the manual from this from this site)
Referring to the dip switches on board the head.

"With the power off, set the DIP switches for the
test. Set Bank-2 #6 on. Turn on the power. Turn
Bank-2 #6 off. The motor will cycle. Insert a bill."
Once this is done the BV is supposed to accept a bill and then spit it out again.

I could not contact the owner who was selling the machine thru an antique dealer.
There was a note on the machine stating the BV needed an upgrade, but I had no idea what that meant.

This problem has existed since purchasing the machine so no I never have seen it work.

All associated cables have been checked for broken wires or bent pins, nothing abnormal was found.

All I can think of is to try another head  :Scratch-Head:
