uba not working

I have just received 10 IGT Gamekings with UBA bill acceptors. All are working apart from one that is dead. There is a red LED on constant. I haven't worked on UBA before and dont have any spare parts for it. Can anyone help me with this. Our casino is in Egypt and spares are very hard to come by.

Have you tried in another game
If you go to Program Information is the BV being seen, if it is you will see the Firmware Version flashed on the BV
Does it cycle or try to cycle
If it tries to cycle, when it stops does the larger RED LED Flash, if so how many flashes?
The small RED LED that is constantly on is actually the indicator that the Guide Rails are in the Home Position, when the Guide Rails arrive in the center the LED goes off

I tried in another game, same thing. Also tried another validator in the machine and it works fine. It doesnt try to cycle and there is no flashing red LED to give me a clue as to whats wrong.

Sounds like the unit has the wrong firmware

Download this Program from JCM (Tool Suite) load into a Laptop and run the program at the game, connect via USB Laptop/UBA and it will read the version of firmware

What currency are you accepting, ID024 is not available for a lot of countries, is the game using a Converter Board?

We use US $. What is a converter board?

If you are outside the USA and there is no ID024 firmware available for the local currency, but ID003 is available, you can use a special converter board that takes the ID003 Protocol and convert to ID024, local currency is now accepted on the IGT machine

We only use the US$ Harp. I dont know how the techs who refurbed them wouldnt have tested this bill acceptor before they left the US. We also have some Williams with Nevada jurisdiction chips in. Do you happen to know which chips I need to replace these?

What you need to do right now is find out the Firmware loaded in the BV

The link I posted will take you to the JCM Tool Suite, once loaded when you plug a USB into a Laptop and the UBA the Firmware loaded in the BV will show in the program screen

I swapped the CPU board on the UBA and it has the IDO24 firmware in it. The bill validator is now on, but even though it pulls in the bills will not accept any yet.

First thing to remember is, be careful swapping out boards as you should calibrate after the swap

Does this BV cycle, are the jumpers in the correct position?

I think it needs calibrating Harp. Jumpers are right position and the bv cycles. Unfortunately I dont have the calibration papers needed.

UBA Calibration is a little more than Calibration Paper like the WBA, you mentioned that you just received the games, I would ask the supplier to replace the unit for you
