Igt s+ wba-13-ss bill validator does not work

Hey guys! Just got an igt s+ machine from a friend, replaced the battery then got stuck in a 61-1 loop. I bought a set and a clear chip, cleared the ram and  enabled the bill validator, but the validator does not light up  or even attempt to accept a bill. I did notice that the transporter was cycling for a long time and making unhealthy noises, I bought an updated validator (wba -13-ss ) and bent up the tabs on the cash box and made sure it's seated properly, now it cycles once  or twice  maybe and sounds good but it still won't light up or accept bills. I get no error codes and I'm sure all the doors are closed. The only thing I notice is when I go thru the options,  option 6 for the denomination is at 0, I put the set chip back in and set it to 25 and it seems to default back to 0, is that normal?

Forgot to mention, I can put the validator in test mode (dip switches 1 2 3 on) and it lights up and accepts a bill, but if I put another one in it seems to get stuck in the cash box. I'm not sure if that's an issue or not...any help is greatly appreciated, I'm out of ideas... thank you!

Are you sure your validator has the right software installed/flashed?  It needs to be IDO022/023 for S+.  Sometimes people put the ones for S2000's which has IDO024 and it doesn't work.  Unfortunately there's no way to tell by looking at it. Do you really have a WBA13 or is it a sticker that says WBA13.  To verify, turn it upside down and look at the logic board on the validator.  If it has a 32 pin Eprom, you have a WBA13, if it has a surface mounted flash chip, you have a WBA 12.  If you do have the WBA 13, is there anything written on the eprom?

Hey rick, thx for the response!   I'll check out the details when I get home from work, but it was a wba 11? Or maybe 12? Can't remember, I recently bought the wba 13 because the old one wasn't working and I wanted it to take new money anyways, and it did come with a 32 pin flash chip installed and and an extra one(in not sure why) but I tried them both and it doesn't seem the make any difference

The old validator was a wba-12, but neither one will light up

That looks like it's a 024 software for the S2000.
You need 022-023 software for the S+.

Well the other chip that it came with says

Should I be using that one instead?

When I put the old validator in test mode it would light up but I couldn't get it to take a bill, the new one on test mode lights up and takes a bill in test mode, but still won't light up in game mode

The ID24 is the point, it's for the S2000.
You need ID 22- 23.

That looks like it's a 024 software for the S2000.
You need 022-023 software for the S+.

As Proten said you need a 4 mgb chip programmed with IDO 22/23 software to run a WBS 13ss on an S+. The software you have will not work on an S+. It's programmed for an S2000.
