Universal Reel/Video Games / Re: #12 error?
« Last post by Pitts256 on Today at 04:23:47 PM »
Error "41" is the 1st Reel is spinning improperly. Could be a couple of things; the reel motor bearings are stiff or the electrical connections are oxidized and not making a good connection. Use will free up the reel bearings. The three white Molex plugs at the front of the reel tray though should be unplugged and plugged back in several times to improve the connections. Cleaning the plugs with some Deoxit spray certainly wouldn't hurt either.

Another possibility would be the edge connector on the backside of the CPU board. Same applies, check for bent pins and clean with Dexoit spray.

Resetting an Error 41 with the yellow reset button is the correct response.

I just have to jump in and respond to "Nitro Force" spray.  I have worked for Horizon Hobby for 34 years (I am not a technical representative of our company, I work in distribution).  Nitro force is great for all kinds of stuff, it's similar to Electronics cleaner but it is designed to blast into motors and leave zero residue. It's fine for what you are doing.
One thing I'm unclear here.  Is the advice that dunginhawk pull the eprom and spray clean the socket?  If so, when pulling the eprom rock it out carefully and take an eraser to the legs to clean off years of oxidation.
Spray the socket and re-insert.  As mentioned, be very careful not to break off the legs.

Best of luck, I'm anxious to hear how this works.

WMS Williams Video / WMS BB1 Can't Initialize CF Drive
« Last post by Moose on Today at 03:00:22 PM »
Hi, I have a BB1 Goldfish Video Slot. Worked fine. Haven't turned it on in a month. Now I get on the top screen Can't Initialize CF Drive. Sandisk Driver Error: 108. I reseated the CF cards but that didn't do it.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure that the MPU is booting completely. You should have all LED's on except red. One of the first things initialized on the MPU is the watchdog timer. If it is running, the board won't try to reset itself, and you won't get the flashing red.  I have not studied 039's very much yet so I don't know what the dark LED's are saying.
Do you have another MPU to try?

No, unfortunately, I do not have another MPU to try.  But I can hook up an external monitor and see the screens.  I just can't select/touch anything.  When I hook up the Tovis monitor, it is black but I can touch it and hear it clicking on things.
