BB1 D/S game with EBB Question About Main Board
« on: September 05, 2014, 03:15:04 PM »
Hello all.

Just me again. Still waiting for the batteries to arrive so I can test my Tse-Tse boards.

Meantime I have come across a D/S Game, BB1 cabinet and board with EBB button in and functional.  It is running Stampede Deluxe.

But I noticed that it has the 2002 version of the NXT board in it (with the CF card slots front and back instead of side by side) like the later revision of 2004 or 5 maybe.

So should I be concerned that the cpu is of the older original type or not?  Basically it is the age I am concerned about mostly, or are there other issues??  :Scratch-Head:

Thanks again for the time and knowledge.

Steve

I have both types and have never had any issues with either one.  Although I think (not 100% sure on this) the older ones are actually a bit faster @750Mhz and the newer ones are at 600Mhz.  I think WMS did that for more reliability as it required less active cooling.

Thanks Rick,

I think I may pick one of these up. They are Priced right @ 1250.00 complete but need a bit of cleaning inside etc.  They appear to have had heavy exposure to the smoky environment in a typical casino situation.

Yuk!!!

A D/S BB1 with EBB hardware fills all my needs right now for playing the last few D/S titles that won run on my 550 conversion.................

$1,250 is a heck of a deal for a DS BB1 with EBB hardware.  Good find.  Next step, find a BB2 CPU for it and ...

And...........????

That is the plan after I get bored with the DS games I will prolly go that route.  He has some BB2 Cabinets WITH both 21" screens installed that he is selling WITHOUT CPU's.  Don't know what he wants for those but they look in almost new condition......................

If I need help with this BB1 game, I know I have the right guy "on line" to help me out!!!

Thanks again Rick.    :thank_you:

I left it at that to use your imagination.  :arrowthruhead: :arrowthruhead: :arrowthruhead:

In my case my bb1 cabinet turned to a double wide 21", OLED button panel, and bb2 cpu.  Since you bought that dual screen for a pretty good price, I would find out how much he wants for the bb2 cabinets.  The MPU can be had for around $1,200 to 1,300.  If you can assemble a full bb2 cabinet for under $3K you are doing REALLY well.  Heck I just spent around $2,400 just for the screens, OLED panel and bb2 CPU.

WoW..... I will check on that.

Do you still have your 550 conversion?  It was at your mom's right?  I'm going to sell off my WMS reel/dotmation game "Jackpot Limbo" to make room for the new "baby".  How much should it go for?  It is pristine!!

She has a dual BB1 with goldfish which she really likes.  I change the game on the conversion on a weekly basis for her so she gets good use out of it.  The dotmation games, depends on where you live and local demand.  I've seen some go for 1K, and other for under $400.00, like I said, if somebody wants it really bad and it's local, you could get more since you don't have to figure the shipping charges.  I'd say around $400 to $600 is fair for those.

Thanks Rick.

Meantime I am getting the BB1 Dual Screen and I will run it side by side with my conversion.  When I have it all up and happy I'll post a pic if I can figure out how to do that........

Hello All.

So I took delivery of my Bluebird 1 Cabinet DS running Jackpot Stampede Deluxe and it is great. Baby's first BB (other than my 550 conversion) lol.  Paid the guy 50 bucks extra to get the one that had the blue MPU board with the Cf cards side by side.  It runs at 650mhz.  Second revision I think???

I have done some preliminary cleaning, mostly to the chrome and glass, and the upper lcd screen etc.  Did a little blow out with the compressed air cans I have around here, and all looks better.

Just a couple of questions.  The light in my play 2 button is out (literally went out the minute the delivery guys left) and the light in the button for the extra bet is out as well.  Also there are service lights in the top box that stay on all the time (generating heat) so I pulled the bulbs as I could not easily see any switch up there like in the lower cabinet. Should be OK and somewhat cooler no?
How easy/difficult is it to change bulbs in the button deck? I suppose the whole deck could come out for servicing, but that seems crazy for a bulb change??

Also there is no door on the MPU box so the air from the fan is not well directed over the heat sinks on the processor chip. It blows that direction but it's not forced over them buy the presence of the door.  Any Issues to be concerned about?  I could make a suitable "door" out of cardboard I suppose???

Thoughts??

Anyway, thanks again for the help......

Most bluebirds I have seen for home use lack the mpu door.  I know all 4 of my units do not have it.

It is easy to replace the bulbs in the button panel.  Two ways to do it.  You can just pull the lens cap off and with needlenose pliers pull out the wedge bulb.  You can remove the button and dissasemble to get to the bulb.  if you look under the player panel, you will see either a white plug that connects all button connectors, or individual wires that (4 of them) that are used for the button and the light.  You pull the wires, unscrew the button plastic nut and the whole button assembly pops out.  Then you can dissasemble the button, clean, and replace bulb.

The animator button (EBB Button) is a little more difficult as the led ring needs to be replaced complete, it is no just a bulb.

The service lights, I don't know since my dual screen does not seem to have it.

Thanks Rick,

For the EBB button the led's are functioning fine,  the center button does not seem to light up but I have not seen a picture of a working machine with this button that is illuminated in the middle.  Maybe it does not light up?? Or they are always burned out by the time they get to the secondary market??

My deck button lights are kind of bluish in color, what will I need to order to replace the bulb?  Bulb type etc.

Thanks,

Steve

Also if I might.....

Is it possible to adjust the front-back position of the WBA assembly?  Mine seems to be a bit too forward and keeps the belly door from closing the way it should without a "gap between it and the frame.   :Scratch-Head:

Thanks

Now that I think about it, I don't remember if there's a light in the middle of the EBB button, I will power up my game tonight and have a look.  The best bulbs to use on the other buttons are led wedge bulbs.  You probably have leds already since you say the look bluish, incandescent bulbs look yellow.  I buy mine from suzo happ, they are 6 volt T1 3/4 bulbs.

http://na.suzohapp.com/amusement_products/lighting/91-5WB-61W2?SS=ON

As far as moving the dbv back and forth, I don't believe you can unless you modify the cage a bit.  It is held in place by 3 or 4 screws that bolt to the side of the cabinet and there are corresponding holes in the dbv cage.  You could drill the whole into a longer oval shape in the cage enough so you can slide the whole thing back whatever distance you need, or you could use some sand paper and sand away a bit of the bezel (or remove the bezel), depends on how much space you need to move it.  Also sometimes in these BB1's the door bezel to the dbv is a bit off, and if you just remove it and re-seat it it may fix your issue.

Thanks Rick,

I will have a look at the cage position and see what I can do.

I also noticed that the belly door kind of "sags" down toward the right a bit and I have to lift it up a  little to get it to line up with the bill bezel when I close the door............hinge adjustment perhaps??

There is a bulb in the middle of the EBB, just pop the plastic top off and replace it with a LED bulb.  You can use a 12V if you don't have a 6V.  !2V works fine.
If it ain't broke don't mess with it.....
