Vision LCD backlight inverter

Hi, folks!
Been a while (ok ages  :arrowthruhead: ), the backlighting on my Vision machine died and I think it's the inverter, seems to be a common enough issue. I see some are available on eBay, but would rather my money go back to the community. That said, does anyone have one for sale?

Check F1.  If it is "open", I have had no ill effects from solder jumping it for some extended life.

Hi Simon...how are you doing?

Hey...where is the"F1" location?

Would it be that little tan colored IC component?

Is it a fuse?

This is what I've found on a  "bad" one I have.

It looks like "2A" something (probably a company brand symbol?) and a "74" on the body of it.

I'm guessing 2 Amps @ 24 volts?.

I usually buy used ones from Ebay. There is one guy the recycles them from laptops for around $20. I have 16 visions machines so I keep a few as spares. There was a seller from China that had them new for around $10. but shipping takes forever. I may go ahead and get more for the future. 30 days for shipping isn't bad unless your machine is down,

Fuse locations are marked Fx, X being the number (F1,F2,F3, ect) of the fuse. 
That's a 2 amp  24 volt fuse.

 :agreepost:   I would never recommend replacing a safety device (fuse) with a jumper wire.  It would allow too much current to flow through the circuits the fuse was designed to protect and could potentially start a fire.

Thanks, everyone! I’ll put a meter on that fuse and see if I can determine that it’s bad, if it is I will stop by the local Fry’s and see if I can pick one up!

I hadn't heard that, damn that sucks.  They built a huge store in Las Vegas several years ago.  I liked going there shopping for things I didn't know I needed until I got there and saw it during my business trips out that way.  RIP Fry's Electronics.

Out of the 6 they had around here (Silicon Valley), there are only 4 left and they're always pretty much empty. You'd think a geek area like this would have plenty of places to buy electronic parts, but they're all closing or have closed.  :(
We used to have Weird Stuff, HSC (great for Molex connector pins & shells, they had them all!), Software & Stuff, all the Fry's locations, Quement Electronics, scads of Radio Shack locations (that have all closed but weren't a good place to find components anyway). and even MicroCenter.
My last attempt tomorrow will be Anchor Electronics, or it's going to be online order a $.99 part and pay $10 shipping.  :banghead:
