IGT S Stopped Working

Hello all, I'm new and I could really use a little help here. I have an IGT S (Wild Cherry from 1987). I replaced the battery and everything was working great for days. I pulled a couple of burned out bulbs from the MAX BET button and the CHANGE button so I could buy new bulbs. I closed the door and now coins fall straight through to the coin tray when I try to play.


No error code.
Test button does nothing.
Jackpot reset key does nothing.

It's almost as if the unit thinks the door is open. Are there door optics I should be looking at? I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or ideas.

Are the reels stiff or loose?  If it was just a door optics issue, pushing the test button would get you into the operator's menu, and jackpot reset key would get you into accounting mode.

S machines don't use optics for the door, they have a "cherry switch" that detects the door condition.  Is there anything shown on your "coins played" display?  With the door open it goes to 0, closed it will show the coins played in the last game.

Thanks for the help Rickhunter! The reels feel loose to me. You think it mau be a reel issue?

Thanks for the info Tilt. That explains why I couldn't find any. I thought it might have both. The "coins played" display is blank.

Did you remove the bulbs with the power on?  If so, maybe you shorted something out?  Check the fuses and if good pull the MPU board out and look for any visible signs of damage.

If the reels are not stiff, then the mpu is not getting power or not controlling the reels.  They should stiffen the minute you power up and then all 3 reels will spin and stop once the power up tests are over.  I would check the fuses like Tilt suggested to make sure they are good.

Well, that was indeed the problem. A simple fuse. I feel like an idiot for not think of it myself. I'm very grateful to rickhunter and Tilt for their help! Thank you so much!
