Hey!  Anybody want some gum?
I think it's tangerine flavor! 



Out comes the sharp flat head screwdriver to scrape this outta there.
Should I replace it with a thick piece of wool felt pad and some double-sided tape?

Funny you posted this. My s plus arm just stuck in the down position last night.
I have never worked on the arm mechanism ... they've always worked. I'll poke around the forum though as I'm sure it's out there in multiple places.

I'm thinking of going with some thick felt with a rectangular sticky back tape.

As far as I can see, it's just to reduce the shock of the springs pulling back on the handle against a plate.

No biggie!

You don't just push the "spin reels " button? I don't have an S+, just an S2000; I never use the pull handle. My Bally EMs on the other hand,  requires a pull on the handle.

The handle gives us that nostalgic feeling.  I use the pull handle on my machines AND coin in/out.

Mark, to repair handle mechs that have the rubber bumper melted away, this is what I do to fix them.  tried two different items. went with the solid rubber vibration pads.  see the pictures.

the only problem I encountered was the thickness of the rubber pad , if its too thick the ratchet will not reset.

you have to disassemble the handle , it comes apart in halves, just lay out the e-ring washers in the orders you remove them, then remove the solenoid, the three nuts, the three screws and the unit can now be separated.   take a picture of everything before you do this for reference.

once apart clean up the plastic part where the melted bumper was, cut the new rubber to fit that block, measure the distance between the two metal flat parts that will eventually rest on the rubber pad, use this measurement to mark where to drill a hole to secure the rubber pad to the plastic block, attach the rubber pad to the plastic block , now reassemble and test the handle mech out of the machine. use a screw driver to act as the handle.

first time takes about 1 hour to figure it out and do it, after you do several it only takes around 15 minutes.

have not had any fail or wear out to date!

I ended up using a piece of wool felt.

So far it seems to be okay but I haven't played it enough to see how long it will last.

as long as the handle doesn't bounce back down and lock in position, then you should be good,  that's the whole function of the absorber, is to dampen the flyback inertia of the handle.
