1947 Buckley Long Shot Machine Coil

i have this machine and the coil fried.  I can't seem to find a coil for it.  There is 28 volts going into the coil.  It's used to hold down a switch during game play.  Does anyone even have 28 volt coils?  Any advice would be great! 


It appears to be a 15 amp coil.  From top of magnet to bottom of base, it measures one inch.

Your best bet would be to post a picture if you can. Sometimes those old parts were used on multiple machines.

Is there any info still on the wrapper around the coil.
Coils are usually measured by wire size and number of winding, 26/300

Thanks for helping. I am guessing it fried because it's a 15 amp on a 20 amp fuse?

What are the numbers on the paper wrapper on the coil?

Only legible thing on paper is "#29". And 15 is printed on the base

The coil does not look burnt, what makes you think it's bad?
Did you put a meter on it?

Yep.  Put a meter to it, nothing.  Plus I saw a bit of smoke come off it just as it died.

Figured out that the coil was used to keep the play field lights on while the 2 minute timer ran.  Someone removed the timer so it stayed engaged all the time.  I'm thinking that caused the burnout.  So I just bypassed the coil and wired the lights to stay on all the time.  Runs like a champ now.  Thanks all for your input!
