S+ machine plays well ,I thought I had all settings right but cant stop it from automatic paying everything over 300 credits

With no credits on machine press white button until you see a 7 in coins played window and 0300 in win paid or credits window. Use jackpot key to index to the left, spin button to change to higher number.

I have 3 S+ slot and I did exactly what you said. and 2 of them worked no problem ,but 1 of my machines wont cooperate. I had 0 credits. I hit the test button until I got 7 in coin played and 300 in win paid window but when I try to index ,it wont. it will work with any other test but not 7,i did the same with my other 2 slots and was fine.do you think theres a problem with my mpu or bad rom

did you check the dip switches on the board, 1234 on, 5678 off, switches, 1234 set up the programmable limits or hard wired values. also depends on your SP chip .

i checked the dip switches and they are set the way you said, got everything working good but cant stop slot from paying out when it hit 300 credits my other 2 S+ i adjust credits no problem but not this one

First, to repeat what sixcardmark was saying above, the machine will not accept changes to the hopper limit if there are any credits currently on the machine. You must cash out or play off any credits on the machine in order to change credit or hopper limits.

Second, please tell us what SP chip you have so we can give you directions specific to your machine, rather than guessing at what the correct procedure for your game is. you could try one of your working boards in the suspect machine and see if it is the problem, and vise versa.

also go to the input test that starts with 5_0, advance it to the last menu item, it should display the status of the 8 dip switches, this will verify what the cpu is actually seeing. even though the switch physically appears to be on ,internally it could be defective. 1234 winner paid all 1111, 5678 credits 0000. read the flip cards in the how to guide in the S+ section, it explains all these tests and settings etc.

does the machine operate normally on all other pay outs? will the machine register credits.

payout and credits are correct . tried board from my other machine , and machine worked fine....i will run the input test..Thanks

I would try a different SP chip! 708 is an old chip.

for my purpose, I just want it to work and be user friendly, so if someone has a problem I can walk them through the test on the phone. There again for MY purpose I only use SP731 in all regular games, one press of the white button and you are in the test mode, all functions can be addressed using the button panel, never have to use the jackpot reset key.

is there something I needed to do when installing the sp731 rom or should I be able to hit test button and go to test mode ? when I installed rom I get nothing, no startup cycle, nothing on display in either of my machines. did I purchase bad roms or did something wrong?

Check for bent pins or the chip installed one row off or backwards.

Installing a chip backwards is easy to do if your not paying close attention.
Chips either have a little knotch that you line up with the little knotch on the socket or they have a small hole on the top of the chip.
I have seen people line up the chips all the same way based on the labels but the idiot who put on the label put it on backwards so you can't depend on that.
LOOK for the knotch.

chips are seated correctly and in the right direction, I always make sure notch is correct, also tried chips in my other machine same thing
