S2000 audio help Please
« on: March 24, 2024, 09:30:22 AM »
Is there a way to find out why on most of my S2000’S it’s a standard set of Sounds, and Some of the Ones Play a different melody that I’ve never heard on each function? Like attract, Money in, pay out reels spinning. If it’s something that I can add to make the machines different, I would like to do that. I read some threads about sound cards/chips and I’m Not understanding it completely.

THe sound is really a complicated thing... some game roms support a few, some support a lot, and some support NONE.  SO that's the start of things.  Then there is the 502 board - you need the MML daugher-board to add a Sound SIMM.  Sounds for S2K come on SIMM chips (looks like computer memory but it's very much not).  RB on here can sell you sounds but no one guarantees that they will work with your rom/game chip as that's a crap shoot.  My Double Sizzling 7's won't do any fancy/enhanced sound at all.  In order to get it to even play stupid sounds in Stereo, I have to put an MML and the 0042 chip which is the only one it will take - the SB# is really what determines the game ROM and what sound SIMMs it will support.  The 0042 SIMM chip is kind of a "default" sound scheme, very basic but most machines will support it.  There are lots of fun other ones like the Munsters, I dream of Jeanie, Richard Petty, and Wild Thing to just name a few.

Here's an example of an MML

If that URL doesn't work some day in the future, Search "IGT S2000 Multimedia" and you will likely find the same thing.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH. That gives me some avenues to start experimenting with. I have a box of the MML boards as well as SIMM cards with different numbers on them. Do You know if there’s a list of the different SIMMS and descriptions of their features? I will check with RB as well.
One thing that’s really interesting to me is this “TRIPLE LUCKY 7’S” machine,(pictures) with a 501 board
and a SNDF DSV00013 card has the best audio quality. When I Key chipped it for TITO, I was amazed at the options being so different. Going through the steps, Items to change didn’t even come up. All the audio options, Validator, reel spin/stop attract. etc. play something different. It would be nice having multiple sounds coming out of My machines when they’re All on.
