Bally 873 - Transformer 122-105 wiring
« on: May 03, 2015, 02:03:35 PM »

Hello,

I have a Bally 873, the transformer is wired in 110 volts. It is a 122-105. (the machine does not work beacause i'm in France (220VAC)

On my Bally 809, the transformer is wired in 220 volts, it is also a 122-105. (it operates)

Regarding wiring the only difference is on the red wire and a bridge.

The red wire is on terminal 7 for 110 volt on the Bally 873 + bridge between terminal 5 and 7,

and this red wire is on terminal 9 for 220 volt on the Bally 809. (without bridge)

I powered on the machine (873) and the main fuse blown. This is strange because I wired the transformer as on my machine that operates in 220 volt.  :Scratch-Head: :Scratch-Head:

I have the wiring diagram of the 809, is someone have the scheme of 873 ?

Thank you. :thank_you:

In your Bally 873 photo there are 2 or 3 white wires going to transformer terminal 3. But in the Bally 809 photo I do not see any white wires and nothing connected to terminal 3 ??

I think the input power schematic for the 873 and 809 models are the same. Can you post the input power drawing of the schematic you have?

Also, what size was the main fuse that blew? For 220v operation the fuse is smaller than what is used for 110v operation.

for 220 volts I think you should be looking at being across terminals 1 common and terminal 7
terminals 1 and 9 =240volt
terminals 1 and 5 =120 volts with a link between 5 and 3

Hello and thank you for your answers,

We do not see on the picture, and besides I was wrong  :banghead: , there has a bridge on the Bally 809 transformer between terminal 3 and 5…

Here are the details of the wiring:

On the Bally 873 (bridge in 1/3 and 5/7)
Terminal 1: 2 x white and blue wire ---------|
Terminal 3: nothing -------------------------|

Terminal 5: 2 x black wire -------|
Terminal 7: 1x red wire ----------|

Terminal 9: nothing

On the Bally 809 (bridge in 3/5)
Terminal 1: 2 x white and blue wire

Terminal 3: nothing -------------|
Terminal 5: 2 x black wire -------|

Terminal 7: nothing

Terminal 9: 1 x red wire

So I wired the Bally 873 as described above.

The main fuse burned out and I got a little smoke. I think it came from a ballast neon. :duh:

I stop my experiences and I wait a voltage converter, 220 volt to 110 volt.

make sure you are not putting 220v around the 110v light circuit
looking at it it seems correct in france not sure of your mains colours so assume that blue and red are from your plug and would be ok across 1 and 9
something I have found with bally is the fused neutrals (commons) I come across I never liked this
so the two white wires I would guess are the commons for your belly glass light and the second white for the reel lamp the blacks would be the + side  so that looks ok
you could/ should link out 5 and 3
you could try disconnecting the blacks and whites and if your fuse holds up the problem is with a ballast circuit
you could reconnect one ballast circuit at a time if the fuse blows first time then  try the other wires connected and see if the fuse holds up
but only if your confident in your abilities with mains voltages

Hi,

Thank you for your help, but I finally found a voltage converter 220v to 110v.

In France it is complicated to find slot machine parts, I prefer finally let the machine in 110 v ; having a converter is not very annoying.

I use this converter: http://www.electronic-star.es/Lianlong-LLD300DT-Convertidor-300W-de-110/120-V-a-220/240-V_i37659.htm

Sorry I have not found a link in English.
