S+ reel spin sound

Anyone know how to get the reel spin sound to work on game chip 1160 ? I have the coin dings, the reel stop sound and the reel stop sound  but no real spin sound ??

That's an old chip. Check the dipswitches on the mother board.

I will see if I can wrestle up a PSR for this chip.

I do not have an 1160 in my files, but I do a 1159 and 1161. Both of these indicate that the reel sounds are controlled by dip switch 3.
I would bet that the 1160 is the same.....


DIP SWITCH OPTIONS
The dual in-line package switch selection chart is located on the processor board tray.  The options for this machine are:  hopper limit (switches 1 and 2), reel-spin sound (switch 3), fast or normal game speed (switch 4), progressive enable/disable (switch 5), high/low or alternating progressive (switch 6), double or single progressive (switch 7), and link or standalone progressive (switch .  The DIP switch configuration is displayed in the self test mode.

Hi Jay, Thanks for all your help. I actually found it in the set-up menu but the strange thing is it was set for reel spin and stop sound but nothing, I could only get it to work on reel spin sound only.

There's a mistake in the PSRs for the S+ machines when it comes to the description of the reel spin sounds.  It's in every PSR that references them, and I don't know why IGT never fixed it.  Either nobody noticed, or nobody cared.  I've posted the following before in a different thread about the same issue -- here it is here for your enjoyment:

According to the PSR, the page zero option 2 controls the reel spin music.  The PSR states:

Reel-Spin Sound <0> [2]   Options are reel-spin tones and reel-stop sounds {0} or reel-spin tones only {1}.

This is wrong.  Despite what IGT claimed in the PSR, the two options are A) reel spin tones with the handle solenoid activated quickly at the stop of each reel (to generate the Clack, Clack, Clack of the reels stopping), OR B) no reel spin tones, simulated "stop" sound from the speaker only.

I'm not in front of a machine right now so I can't state which option (0 or 1) correlates to each of those two descriptions, but if you're not getting reel spin music on one of the settings, try the other setting.  Only one of the two options will actually play music/tones when the reels are spinning.
