831-ZZSH Line unit adjustment
« on: November 14, 2015, 02:20:06 PM »
I just got this machine and it doesn't coin up quite right.  The line unit reset coil is energized but doesn't reset the line unit.  It will eventually overheat.
Before I follow the schematic down the line I would like to get the line unit setup  correctly.

1. How many turns should I put on the torsion spring?
2. Which hole should I put the short torsion spring end into.
3. How should the fingers on the Line disk be aligned at coin up- picture with fingers.

It's odd the toothed gear posts are 1 inch apart and in my other 831 they are 1 1/4 inches apart.  There doesn't seem to be much room for the
unit to advance.

The person I bought it from said the auctioneer who sold it said a little old man played often and then had some work done on it after which it didn't work.
I think the problem is in the feature unit as it will pay after a fashion when the reels are set.

Thanks, Jeff

Th stepper unit you show is for the coins played. I always adjust the spring so there is enough tension to allow it to advance without a struggle, and to reset easily. Operate it manually to test out the tension and either lighten the spring by moving it or backward or forward in one of the holes of the gear. Really doesn't matter what hole it starts in, but the tension does. Make sure the unit moves well, should be no drag. I have worked on a few that I had to free up the shaft where it goes thru. Took a while but is important that it turns freely in both advance and reset.

There should be a marked red spot (usually) on the board and one of the arms. This would be at the reset position. They should be the same as your other 831 I would think unless this machine has had been reworked from another model.

This is a 3 coin machine right? Should be if its a 831

Thanks,
I don't have a "Red Dot" on the disk, but it does seem to walk through coin ups now, so I'm assuming it's OK.
Need to get the reels moving right so I can actually cycle the machine properly.
Keep you posted on how it comes out.

Regards,
Jeff
