E2000 TEST 5 probs
« on: December 31, 2015, 10:38:02 AM »
I have this machine almost to the point its playable after a nightmare of previous hands digging in it... Prob I have now is tilt errors and reel test results......Ill start by saying all Lamps on the reel readers are lit, all plugs cleaned and solder joints verified good.......... When running tests the reels lock and in test 5 display reads 14444.   If i manually release the reels nothing on the display changes .... would this be a prob on the reader board or I/O ?? Next is to look in to which chips decode this and digest the info ...

thanks

Below where the reel readers sit and attached to the front of the reel bundle is a small
decoder board with 3 IC's. This is probably where your problem lies if none of the reel
readers detect a change.

From the decoder board the buffering is done by chip U8 on the IO board.

that board has no 5v.... its there but being pulled down from U2 which is internally shorted ... I lifted vcc on that chip and + to - is normal......Ill replace that and see where we end up im pretty sure that should do it.....

I had a few chips here 74145, 14 and 17 they were used but 2 of the 3 were taken from a probably good board ... the 17 I question cause they fail commonly on pins and thats what I scobbed it off of ..... Now it runs test 5 and shows info for reel 1 but no others, I cant find a bell cancel switch to flip through the reels in test, how do I do that ??  It will also coinup and play one pull then goes to tilt... Starting to guess if that 17 is iffy ??
