Bally 3 coin EM
« on: January 05, 2016, 02:40:25 PM »
I have a bally three coin I believe a 831?  Any way the machine was working right  but now take's a coin and the handle won't release?  If you put in more coins it will accept them but not give credit for them. (by this I mean it shows only one coin is being played)
I tried a different hopper from another three coin machine and it released the handle and gave the credits as it should .

I looked at all the switches on the hopper and every thing looks good? What am I missing?

if you look at page 20 of the EM manual the only part of the handle release coil that goes through the hopper is the payout relay that's about all the help I can Be its either that or wires
or a little bit of corrosion on the plug to one of those two wires

When you insert the first coin, does your coin accepted light come on?
This would indicate your coin relay has tripped, and that you got downstroke of the coin switch.
Only after the handle paddle drops will you get 2nd coin in and 3rd coin in registered.
You can release the handle paddle manually and then try to see if you get 2nd and 3rd coins accepted and registered...
Just reach back in there and push the handle coil armature (pretend to be the coil), and then coin it up.

Overpay is frequently caused by not having enough turns on your spring which wraps around the 100 tooth paygear on back of payboard.  This allows for a double step on the first few coins out, when the tension on the spring is the lowest.  You can add 1/4 turn to the spring and see if that helps.  Note the different holes on the plastic gear where you can put the spring hook side to adjust it.
