I had one worse then that, but I can't current;y find the picture.. It was in my Metalist I bought. The hopper star was so bad that nickels were stuck into the star, and the fingers were bent at a 45 degree angle.. I'm sure glad they didn't have more rubber components then the star, air cylinder and zero stop bumpers..

Probably the same rubber they used on those black bumpers they put under some of their earlier boards.

Remove the board from the tray and see a blob of sticky black goo where a bumper was.

It's a bitch trying to remove that stuff from finger tips.

I've found that rubbing alcohol work good for getting it off things and fingers. I've rigged a spray nozzle that I can attach to the bottle.

I put that part in the freezer the rubber breaks right off but I have never figured out how to clean one of these I just replace them

first off you need a pair of disposable rubber gloves,  then I use finger nail polish remover (acetone)  takes it right off,  VERY MESSY, but it will clean everything.

I agree, acetone does work great too. I use a lot of paper towels or a could old shop rag to clean up the old rubber. I did locate the picture of the hopper star that came in my Metalist. It was the worst one I've run into.

I don't know what kind of site it is I just know when I first got in the hobby it's where I found my manual


now back to this sweet little 831 I've been working on I have never seen a bad socket but when you hook the meter up and it's a dead short it kept blowing 6 volt fuses whenever it would win

the new socket is installed no longer blowing fuses now the Insert Coin light does not always come on the top box step up does not always work I have serviced the real machine and the hopper I will go on top and then it will be time to hook the change light up again
