Should Slots be Bolted to the Stand ??

One topic I don't recall ever being discussed is whether a slot machine should be bolted down to the stand. I know this is a requirement in casinos for safety, but should we do the same for home use ? My slots are just setting on their stands and due to their weight they seem very stable, but out west here we do have earthquakes. I suppose in a quake even bolted down it could still topple over, but this seems less likely than sliding off the stand if unbolted. Just wondering what the opinions are here.

I don't think most home owners bolt their machines to the stands. But it isn't hard to do, the holes are already in the bottom floor of the machine. You can use a pencil or other marker to mark the place on the stand to drill the holes, then install some bolts & nuts. You may even be able to drill the holes in the stand without removing the machine from the stand. And you wouldn't necessarily have to install 4 bolts, a couple at opposite corners would likely keep the machine from sliding off the stand.

If you're that worried about it then you probably need to strap it to the wall also

yep, that's what they do with their water heaters out there. Do the California casinos have to somehow strap down their slot machines? That would make it tough when the door needs to be opened.

I agree with that, and I think it's a good idea in general to secure them to the stand, and more so if you ever have kids over playing with them -- the last thing you'd want to do is find your niece or nephew crushed under one of your games because they were hanging on the handle or the front of the machine and it fell off the stand on top of them.
