IGT S plus machine 3rd reel wont spin

   I just got a s plus machine that is giving a 43 code. 3rd reel wont spin or even tighten up after power up.  These are the things i replaced on it already with parts that were said to be in working order. cpu board, mother board they were covered in battery acid so replaced first.  new reel, reel wire harness.  when i switch reels it does stay on code 43. All resisters and board parts look good no dark spots. Any ideas before I give up? Thanks I will make a generous donation.

Reel errors should clear when you close the door, does your display blink off then back on when you close the door?
Do reel 1 and 2 try to spin after door closure but reel 3 freeze up.

I think you have addressed most things.
The usual test is to move the reels - they are simply clipped in to the reel tray and have a molex connector.
If the problem moves with the reel then it is a problem with the reel itself (motor, etc).


If the problem stays with the third spot then its an issue with the board.


On the corner of the board there are 5 resistors - for potentially up to 5 reels.

You can use a meter and test across the resistor 1, 2, 3, 4, 5  If reel 3 is either wide open or dead short or a significantly different reading than the others than that's the likely culprit.
Most North American systems don't use more than 3 reels. You can take resistor 4 or 5 and move to spot 3.

  Yes when I open and  close door display goes off (43 code) goes away and 1 and 2 reels spin short spins 3 times and 3 does not move its still free. 3rd reel doesnt even stiffen up like one and two when power up.

Have you done a reel swap as Jay suggested? :scratch-head_3:
Might be just a bad connection with the ground pin in the reel Molex housing.  :propeller:
With the power off, pull out and push back in...if not, try the reel swap with #2 reel.

It's a S+, reel connect is a 15 pin Molex plug into the bottom.

Sorry...I meant to say the Molex housing plug under the reels...not the reel itself...lol

   Yes like I said I moved reel and it did NOT follow the reel.  I will check resisters next thanks.

   I found CR1 Diode bad not sure if that can cause this issue but definitely bad. also found 2 triacs that are week.  Probably should start there. Thanks for alll your help!

The triacs have nothing to do with the reels.
The problem may be deeper then a diode or a resistor, it could be the reel motor driver IC on the board or related serial drive electronics.
It may be time to send the board to my shop and get it looked at with a scope and a schematic, or purchase another board.
