Bonus Spin Sizzling Seven
« on: April 20, 2021, 02:14:11 PM »
So, I'm trying to change the credit amount on my Bonus Spin Sizzling 7 machine.  It's currently set at 200 credits.  When I get over 200 credits, it spits them out.  It has been so long since I messed with an S+ program that I've forgot what I'm doing.

So, I went to the "Start Here" sticky at the top of the IGT S/S+ Forum.

My goal is to get this machine to hold up to 9999 credits.  It was like that before, but after the last battery change, it went on the Motherboard, it reverted to 200 credits.  So now, anytime I go over 200 credits on the machine, it spits them out.

Here is what I think I need to do:  (This is from the "Start Here" sticky -

1.  Important: All setting changes require 0 credits on the machine before entering setup mode.
  • With the machine turned on and in idle mode, open the door press the white test button 7 times
  • This will take you to Option Group 7
  • Note: To set these values, turn the jackpot reset key to change the selected (flashing) digit. Press the spin button to increment the flashing digit.
  • Set your hopper and credit limits as follows:
  • [7-1] 0000   Maximum number of credits that will actually cash out from your hoppe
  •   Zero effectively disables the hopper, but you can use a low number to match the number of coins that you have, if you wish. If you have more credits than the value set here on the meter, pressing cash out will become a hand pay that is cleared with the key.
    • [7-2] 1200  This will cause all single wins of 1201 or more to lock up as a jackpot with lights flashing. Set this between the highest win that you want to pay out normally and the lowest win that you want to lock up as a jackpot. Jackpot wins cleared with the jp key "disappear" and are not added to the credit meter (although they are added to the jackpot meter in the bookkeeping menus.)
    • [7-3] 9999  All single wins of equal to or less than the value set in [7-2] (1200 or less in this case) will go to the credit meter as long as the final number of credits is less than 10,000.
    • [7-5] 2000  The bill validator will turn off when you have more than 2000 credits. Use any value that you want here.
    • [8]    0000  optional.  Partial pay on lockups. If you want some of your jackpot or lockup amounts to pay from the hopper, set this to the number of coins you want to pay out. This number cannot be higher than the hopper limit setting [7-1].
      • Press the white test button one final time after making your last setting change to be sure that the changes stick
      • Close the door
This is basically my interpretation of the following thread:  http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?topic=514.0

Basically, I want to keep all of my settings the same except for changing the 7-3 option.
  • [7-3] 9999  All single wins of equal to or less than the value set in
  • [7-2] (1200 or less in this case) will go to the credit meter as long as the final number of credits is less than 10,000.
So, does this sound like what I need to be doing?

I would sincerely appreciate any help on this
BTW, here is some additional info on my machine:SP944 Type 25 ID023, SET058 or SET076 (Bonus Sizzling 7's where the 300 coin red 7s pay a bonus. Requires a light bar for the bonus feature in the top box.)SP949 Type 25  (Bonus Sizzling 7's where the 300 coin red 7s pay a bonus. Requires a light bar for the bonus feature in the top box.)SP1289 Type 25 (Bonus Sizzling 7's) ID023, SET058/76, $0.01/0.05 - SAS EFT if SET 058 is used (Bonus Sizzling 7's where the 300 coin red 7s pay a bonus. Requires a light bar for the bonus feature in the top box.)Again, I would sincerely appreciate any help on this topic before I dive in.Lumberjack93

The exact changes are based on what game chip you have.
Some chips match credit limits to hopper limits, while others are independent.
The specifics are contained in the PSR (Program Summary Report) for your game chip.
Ricks FAQs on the home page has instructions on how to display your game and reel chip info without pulling the MPU and reading stickers.
Unless your reading PSRs all the time they can be cryptic.

When I go to Option # 4 on the coin in (Far Right Section) here is all that I see.

It flashes between these 2 numbers.

This is not like the example in the other pic I attached.

You have a 1271 game chip. Go to the 1271 in the Excel document I provided. Follow the instructions there to change your settings.

Your reel chip is 4784. I have attached the PAR sheet pertaining to that. More for your interest than anything else.

Jay, I sincerely appreciate you help.  Please forgive me in advance for my lack of knowledge on this subject.

But, when I get to section 7-3 (See attached snip from the excel sheet) what values do I use to make the change.

The excel doc is perfect.  I pushed the self test button 14 times and ended up right where I need to be.

When I get to section 7 - 3, I see the following:

03  7  in the Credits Window.  7 in the Coin In window.  (See attached pic)

What change do I make at this point?

I can take more pics if needed.

You have a SP944 Type 25 for Bonus sizzling 7s.  Those settings you copied are from SP1271 and not all apply to SP944.  I believe there is only one #7 setting with that SP.  Set it to 9999 and credit and hopper limit both will be 9999.

Whoa!

It's all good-intentioned, but there's a lot of misinformation in this thread.

Lumberjack93: You have an IGT S+ "Bonus Sizzling 7s" machine (not "bonus spin" anything).

Jay: The image that Lumberjack posted in Reply #2 that caused you to believe he has a SP1271 chip with SS4784 was an image from the FAQ page (here).  That is not a picture from the OPs machine.

sixcardmark: You're on the right track that he has a Type 25 SP chip, but it's not SP944.

Whew.

Lumberjack93: Based on the images you have posted, you have a SP778 GAME chip in your machine, with a SS7090 REEL chip (Bonus Sizzling 7s, 92% payback).

SP778 is indeed a Type 25 chip for your game (previously undocumented in our records, but confirmed here (page 79)).  I will update our records here on the site.  Unfortunately, I do not have the PSR for SP778, or the PAR for SS7090.  Does anyone reading this have these documents that they can post?

I have attached the PSR for SP779 to this post.  While there's no guarantee that it's going to be accurate for the SP778 settings, SP chips developed around the same time generally offered the same options and settings.  SP779 (and likely your SP778) does use the DIP switches on the MPU board to control some settings.  To increase the hopper/credit limit to 9999, you will first need to ensure that DIP switches 1 and 2 are set to ON.  Always ensure that the machine is powered OFF when removing or replacing the MPU board.

To access the setting you need, open the door and press the white Self Test button approximately 13 times until the number 7 appears in the Coins Played window.  The Winner Paid display should now show a 4-digit number which is the "Maximum Hopper Pay" (hopper limit).  Press the Spin Reels button to advance the value of the flashing digit, and turn the Jackpot Reset keyswitch on the side of the machine to move to the next digit.  With what you said you want to do, you would change all four digits to "9" for a value of "9999".  Press the Self Test button again to lock in your changes, then close the door.

Some previous documentation of the S+ Bonus Sizzling 7s game, since it's hard to find good info on it:

I will pull the board later today and take some pics of the EProms.  I will also ensure that dip switches are set as referenced above.

I did read this in my manual yesterday.  (See attachments)  I assumed that they were set, since my machine used to hold 9999 credits before the last battery change on the CPU.  Now, it's at only 200.

Many thanks for all of the help with this.

Ok, my granddaughter was here today and I wasn't able to get any pics until she left.

So, here they are, pics of the CPU (Eproms) and the dip switch.  Now I'm more confused.  It looks to me like 1, 2, 3 & 4 are all off and 5, 6, 7, 8 are all on.

no...your dips 1-4 are in the ON position....depressed.
Now you can program the max hopper pay to 9999 in the menus.

So, when I get to this point (pushing the test button 14 times takes me to page 7  -  sub menu 3   7 what do I do?

This is the issue I'm having.

What values do I put in the 03  7 (Credits Menu)?  Or, do I hit another key that will bring up the max 200 credits that is currently programmed?

Sorry for the lack on knowledge on this.

Per the instructions in the simplified sheets that I provided you earlier.....
Now that you are at the right menu.. Press the Spin Wheels button to select the item.. It should display the 200 that is there now, use the jackpot reset key to get it to 9999. Then hit the spin wheel button again to lock it in, press the white button to move to a different menu, close the door. Test

We're doing our best guessing here as we don't have the PSR for your SP778 chip.

On SP chips of that generation, the Winner Paid display (not the Credits display) would be showing a four digit number at the point you're at, which could be adjusted as described in my previous post.

If you press the self test button again does the Coins Played remain at 7 and the Winner Paid display show anything?

Also, just to make sure, you have zero credits on the machine, right?

I read that simplified sheets that you sent earlier and I appreciate them.  I have them saved for future reference.

This machine seems different.

When I'm at page 7  section 03 7, I pressed the spin wheels button.  When I do this, the 7 begins to flash.  I can change it from 0 - 9.  Then if I push the spin wheels button again, the 3 starts flashing.  I can change it from 0 - 9.  Then, when I press the spin wheels button again, the 0 starts flashing.  I can change it from 0 - 9.

It doesn't display the 0200 credits that it is currently set to.

So, am I supposed to change the 03 7 to 99 9?  That is the only option that I have on this page.

I'm sorry this is so difficult.

Yes, I have 0 credits on the machine each time I enter the menu.

I wish I could video what I'm doing.  And, I sincerely appreciate the help.

I'm wondering if there is another button to press which may display the current max credits allowed.

I use Verizon as my phone provider.  If anyone can face time me, please send me a PM.

I'm going to keep trying and see what happens.

Ok, partial victory.  I changed the setting on Page 7 - 3 to  99 9

It was 03 7 like in the picture below.

Now, after playing the machine, it will accumulate 800 credits before it cashes out.

Yeah!!!!  Getting closer.

Any ideas based on this?  Maybe something like 5  99?

I'm not sure what that first check digit (5) is for.
