IGT S Plus Top Dollar Error

Hey guys I have an Igt S+ Top Dollar that I recently acquired that was working and for whatever reason it now has an error. Any insight would be very helpful.


I did swap a hopper from a known working quarter game and I still have the error. The error on the win meter is "3100" and then it changes to "1". It switches between the two. There is also an error on the top. This code is C_01.

3100 is extra coin paid.  Open and close the door when machine is on and it should clear.

I have opened and closed the door multiple times and it hasn't cleared it. I have even thought maybe the door close sensor wasn't working properly so I removed one from another working s+ and it still is not clearing.

When you close the door does the 3100 code go off then come back or just stay on?  If it just stays on it's not seeing the door closed.

I read this somewhere and that is what lead me to change the optic. It is not going away and coming back. It is staying on.

Based on what you've written so far your door optics are still suspect. Also make sure that the bill validator stacker (cash can) door is completely closed. The C_01 error in the top box will resolve itself once you get the 3100 error cleared.

When you swapped the door optics out with known good ones, were you careful to connect them correctly? IGT stupidly made the connection for the emitter and receiver the same size plug, so it's possible to inadvertently connect the wrong component to the wrong wires.

The emitter has red and black wiring, and should be installed on the portion of the door that swings open.  The receiver has a slightly more domed appearance to the part, and has red and white wires, and gets installed on the inside of the cabinet and does not move when the door is opened.

Ok so I checked that the cashbox door is closed completely and also I did get the two optics correctly in their respective positions. I still feel it has something to do with those darn optics though because it isn't spinning the reels as soon as I close the door.

Cashbox door switch could be bad. Bypass that switch.

Ok so I have finally had a chance to look at this machine again. I did confirm with a volt meter that the cash box switch is working properly. Upon looking at the door sensors on the Top Dollar slot I have found that I am not getting any power on either sensor. For comparison I looked at the sensors on a working S+ with a volt meter and I am getting ~5v on the door sensor and ~9.5v on the cabinet side sensor. Now I am wondering if this is a power supply issue. I am going to follow the lines back and check for continuity where ever they plug in.

FIXED.... user error. When removing the board it unplugged a harness!
