IGT S+ Motherboard Whats the difference between REV A & B
« on: May 19, 2021, 07:15:53 PM »
I bought a slant top IGT S PLUS red white blue. Its a nickel machine. The machine had been in storage for 10+ years. The battery leaked and destroyed the motherboard. Its a 75505704 REV A.  What is the difference between the REV A and B?  If anyone has one available that would be great. I will also need the GAME PROM and REEL PROM. Pictures attached.

Not a whole lot...the newer revisioned MPU's have smaller main caps and removed the socket jumpers for the device sizes on game and reel proms.

Try to find the Chinese Version "5" or Version "D" MPU circuit boards if you can...that board was one of the last ones IGT made (The most recent version made around 1995).

There are some even newer but rare....the S2000's came out in the spring of 1999 and that was the end of the S+.
A company in China was hired by IGT to make the last S+ boards.

Nothing for you to worry about much....an S+ board is an S+ board....only difference that's critical is whether or not you have a 10MHz or 16MHz board.
Your radio crystal tells me in the photograph that you had a 10MHz board - I never go by the labels.

Stick with the 10MHz boards if possible ( the boards with the blue volume knob).....more readily available game choices really.

The 16MHz boards without the volume knobs are used mostly for the Barcrest type of machines with the topbox computers.

Contact an NLG member named RB...he will have exactly whatever chips or better! you would need for your game.

I have a RevB MPU with a fresh battery and the chips. I don't have SS6410 but that is a very low % payout. You would probably want a different one for home use. Post a pic of your award glass. FYI: the motherboard AKA backplane is the smaller board that the MPU plugs into. Inspect it for acid damage as well.
Quality doesn't cost. It pays.

Thanks so much, here are some pictures. It looks like the motherboard has a little surface damage on the bottom left.  Thanks, Candis
