An S+ Success Story (kinda?)
« on: June 18, 2021, 11:52:22 AM »
So, my Mother received a Triple Sapphire machine for Christmas. Not knowing any better, it was hooked up to a power strip that could be shut off at night. Well, we ended up needing a wiring harness due to a short from power to motherboard. Got a great hookup on here (Thanks Trisail  :hail:), got it installed, as was partially back in business--power, but now a battery error. Installed a fresh battery, and now we're up and running. Even the bill validator takes the newer big headed bills!

Great forum, and thanks for all the helpful posts. Now, to work on all those little software adjustments to make life easier

Excellent,  glad you got it.

You can fix almost any electronic device by replacing the aluminum electrolytic capacitors.

Its a great community

There are themes that support tournament mode - perfect for those special family gatherings .......

- when does your second machine show up ?

Nothing wrong about having your machine hooked up to a power strip, nothing wrong about turning off machine when not in use either. I have all my machines on strips and only turn them on to play them.  What software adjustments do you need to make?

I second that - Even if you were to shut of the machine via powerstrip mid spin, when power comes back it finishes the spin. No harm, no foul.

Mine are on a power strip and connected to a X10 appliance module, Other equipment is on the same X10 house code.

One button and my room comes to life. Neon signs, pinball, arcade, slots, etc. (yes many of these are on different breakers).

My thought is that those sudden surges "could" have hastened the burn on the connector, as opposed to turning off the power toggle.

And as far as settings, going to up the hopper limits and turn off that loud bell on every 2-coin payout.

Youve got the bug now.... I am certain a second machine is in order - that way you can periodically swap game kits with your mom...or your brother-in-law. Three machines five kits....
You can start to log the meters on the coin-in and out and provide weekly emails to the family......   :propeller:

These machines are pretty industrial - the power harness you mention is after the power supply - so regardless if you turn it off by power bar or by switch the power (voltage and draw) to that contact point is the same. If anything - after a long time of being off the capacitors in the powersupply may discharge and you would have a lower output voltage vs higher.....

If you can't afford to lose you can't afford to win.
