Help identifying a unit pretty please
« on: July 10, 2021, 06:19:10 AM »
 :EmoticonHelp4:

Stumbled upon this awesome site while looking for info on a unit that needs work. I suspect it is IGT S Plus as some eBayer refunded my purchase for a couple game eeprom chips to get it up and going, so I wanted to double check before I go ordering any further off eBay for chips. Or perhaps someone can redirect me to the store for this site or a sponser that could get me setup right.

The main issue is basically no reel light nor diagnosis codes at all. It's a Triple Diamond 7 slots setup. I'm thinking a full reset will do the trick as well replacement of the onboard battery. Also realized there's more to it than just that such as use of some reset  / memory clear chip. Anyone able to steer me in the right direction?
Here's a few pics of this setup's board.

Moved to IGT s plus.
Please try not to use offsite image hosting as pictures tend to disappear over time.
Thank you.

Need a picture of the front and inside of your machine so we know exactly what machine you have and what we can ask you to try.

also of the inner door specifically the cc-16 coin comparitor.

Hi - There are a number of vendors on our home page. None of which pay for banner adds - they are the good ones.
Joey our forum sponsor owns a physical store in bullhead city just across the river from Laughlin.

The first thing to check is your fuses - they are on the power supply.
not meaning to be insulting ... but I presume you have turned the power switch on.... (more of a common miss than one cares to admit).
Check the power outlet on the front of the power supply to make sure your getting power through that.

Assuming all of the above is good then check to see if the reels are stiff or free moving. If free moving it could be the power harness.

The MPU board (removeable board in a tray) plugs into the mother board (small fixed board) behind hopper.
In the center of the Mother board is a large molex plug - with the hopper removed and the power on - pull this connector off and push it back on, wiggle and see if the slot springs to life.
You may see some scorching on this molex plug.

Let us know how you make out, and if it comes on any error codes, numbers etc from the winner paid / Credit windows.

I'll try all that, I think It's the reel fuse that's out if there's one for that on the power supply. I did switch it off and on using both switches the key on the outside, then the inside one and the reel still displayed nothing, while everything lit else lit up just fine however no error messages appeared at all anywhere for me to google and diagnosis with. Thank you very much for your reply!

All fuses 3 of them on the power box under the dollar bill collector seemed fine. I really don't get what the issue is. It lights up and everything just fine but no operation of any kind or any diagnosis digits at all will show up on the screen below the reel.... Any more ideas as to what I can try would be greatly appericated.

I don't think you understand what is being asked.  When you power up the machine, open the door and try to move the reels up and down to see if there's any stiffness to it, or it's just loose.  It is the first step to eliminate a bunch of things.  The connector in question is detailed on this thread, and it pretty much describes how your machine is behaving.  You may also want to look at the "look here first" thread that has all kinds of troubleshooting.

Thank you so much!!! I went back into it and checked it out deeper and certainly seems like it needs a new hardness!!! Finally! Thank you all for your help and pointers into the right direction!!!  Actually hardness matched up what it looked like in that picture! Tried wriggling it around and cleaning the points off a bit then powering back up and checking it out still same so i reckon the wires are really shot in this hardness. Certainly gonna grab a new one for it!! Thank you again! Have a great evening everyone!

 :thank_you:

No dice after replacing that wire on the board it still didn't display anything but the reels are stiff... I'm still reading and researching around as to what the next thing to check.
Any clues on what to try next be greatly appericated!!

Despite no displays - does the game play now that the reels are stiff ?
Can you add a test credit and spin ?

Wouldn't let me play or do anything using the slot, as soon I put a quarter in it just drops right back out into the catcher. Back to the drawing board! Gonna check everything out w/ a fluke , should I go ahead and tear it completely apart?

Not a quarter, test credit.
In the door there is the coin comparitor, below that is the optic board.
On the bottom of the optic board - there is a tiny tiny white button that will put a test credit on the machine.
Only works with the door open.
