Reels not lining up correctly.
« on: May 19, 2014, 01:42:55 PM »
Hello everyone, Thank you for having me. I just bought this machine. Changed the battery, fixed the coin mech, reset the 61 - 61-1 loop and now its working. However, the machine is not working right. When the reels line up they are not paying right. Appears the are first 2 reels off a bit. Almost like the labels were put on wrong. My question is... Is there a reset procedure I can follow to correct the reels, or something else maybe. I also noticed that when in credit mode if I bet 1 it automatically adds 2 to make it a 3 coin bet. That I is strange. Thanks in advance for any help. Fred.

I guess I should mention it's an IGT S+, Double Red, White, and Blue, coin only, slant top machine. Thanks again.

You probably have reels meant for an upright in your machine. They are slightly different for slants, I believe you only need to change the baskets.  Post a picture of what your machine looks like when the reels stop.

Also, you want to make sure all of the strip notchs are in the little nubs on the reel baskets correctly. Many times, if a reel strip comes loose, someone will just put in back on the reel any old way, not realizing they have to start at a certain spot on the reel basket.

On the inside of each reel "rim" there is a small nub, about 1/16". There is a notch at the bottom of the reel strip that this nub fits into for proper alignment. The strips are sometimes scotch taped at the ends to keep them together. Just peel back the top of the strip and see if the nub is in the notch of the reel strip. If you're having trouble finding the nub, just run the corner of the strip along the right inside rim of the reel basket. You'll feel it, like a little speedbump, when the reel strip hops over it.

To check your reels pull them out & look for an abbreviation of the machine. here is a pic of an up rite machine reel for reference. Yours should say ST on them.

Also check correct order of the strips
Lowest number strip on first reel (left) and highest number on third reel (right)
for most Red White and Blue themes this is easy to determine
There is usually only 1 red 7 on the first reel strip, one white 7 on second reel strip, and 1 blue 7 on the third strip.

OK. I checked all the reels. All say S/T. So, that's appears good. Now the 1 red 7 and 1 white 7 topic is off. Reel one has 2 red 7's 1 white 7 on it and reel 2 has 2 white 7's and 1 red 7. Is that it you think? And should I swap the reels or the whole unit. The unit are numbered 1, 2 and 3. Thanks again everyone. And I really sorry I'm just getting back too you.

For future reference the number stickers on the reel assemblies don't matter. You can swap the reels to different positions anytime. It's less wear and tear on the strips to do it that way and as long as you know the correct order it's all good

look for slant top or up right on reels if that is correct your reels are pretty much ok just go into reel test and make sure you are in the right strip notch . try test again if do not line up make sure your strips numbers match pc sheet are in order
