finger 3 is one of the differences between the 809-6ZZF "break the bank" and the "triple bar" models like the 809-B.
on the BTB reel 1, the following fingers connect together:
1-2
3-5
6-8 - but none are used (none of the rivets are wired to anything)
on triple bar reel 1:
1-3
4-5
6-8 or 6-9 - only 6-7 are used.
so to convert the game from BTB to triple bar, they had to move wiper 3 from the second group of fingers to the top group ... badly apparently :-)
a bunch of rewiring must have happened on the wire side of the reel contact plates.
pics with the sharpie writing woulda helped initially ... that confirms at least some of the game guts came from a 6ZZF, and tosses out the window assumptions about wire colors matching any schematic.
if you have issues in the future that need a schematic, you'll want to look at an 809-B but then verify what some wire colors really are in your machine ... especially wiring between the reels and to/from the bar match relay. BTB doesn't have a bar match relay, so they added one. Fortunately, it's rare to need to trace wires thru the reels on a game that is known to pay correctly.
your payout counter is M-645-118. The 8 just has a haircut and shave :-)
anyway, a lot of my blathering was assuming your reel mech came from a triple bar. I'd guess quite a bit is wrong, at least wrt wire colors on the bar match relay. If you get bored, you can compare the schem for an 809-5ZB and 809-B and see what wire colors are the same.
a picture of the bar match relay and the wiring side of the reel 1 contact plate would be interesting ... as best as you can without taking anything apart. The wire colors on the lugs at the top is what I'm curious about and wire colors on bar match relay switches.
for example, on BTB wire 43 goes from the 50 pay trace on the payout counter to a lug on reel 1. On triple bar, 43 goes from the 50 trace to a bar match relay switch, and the mating switch has wire 48-2 going to reel 1. When they inserted the bar match relay switch, did they use the correct triple bar wire color or just some random hunk of wire?
