How do I unlock games and which key chip should I use?
« on: October 05, 2015, 01:57:09 PM »
I just got me first digital slot machine.  It is older draw poker game that has been upgraded a few times in the past.  It currently plays 3 games but I can see a total of 22 games in the menus.
Here is what it has in it:
Model 2068-0A
Game king 3902
GME1 and 2 G0001777
PXL1 and 2 C0000330
CG1 and 2 C0000330
Base M0000527
Multimedia Lite with SND1 and 2 SWC00046

2 questions

1.   How do I unlock the other games that is shows in the menus.  I have read that I need a keychip but some people say a 17 others a 20 or a 40 and I do not really know the difference on what I need specifically.

2.   What is this setup capable of playing.  I would really like to change the chips or add a few digital slot machines like black rhino and a few others but I do not know where to get these or if my boards are capable of playing them.  I still want to have blackjack and poker but it would be great to have a few slot machines as well.

Thanks

You have Game King 4.0 software.  If you want to upgrade to GK 5.0 to have access to even more games, you will need a 5.0 Set which uses Simms and eproms.  You will need to buy a multimedia lite board that uses Simms instead of eproms, which is what you have.

(I'm sure there's a post somewhere on the site with all the games that come in GK 4.0 vs GK 5.0)

If you want to go to gk 6.x, then you have to upgrade to 044 platform (new motherboard, MPU and the software in a flash board).

Using key 17 will allow you to change the games. Basically you assign different games to different denominations.  You must do this with 0 credits on the machine, otherwise the key chip will not work.
Using key 22 will clear the ram as well, so you will need to setup other things like accounting denomination, SAS setup, and cash devices.
Key 40 is used for 3902 using legacy board, so I don't think key 40 will work for you.

I am not very familiar with this site yet, is there a place on this site to purchase the 17 key or is there somewhere you would recommend to buy it online?

Here is the GK 5.0 promo lit from IGT.  I don't have the one for 4.x.  As far as the key chip goes, there are several dealers who frequent the site who might contact you.  We have a classifieds section, but only contributing members are allowed to post there.  If you are new to this stuff, the knowledge gained from this site is well worth your while for a donation, which will allow you to post on the classifieds, increase mailbox capacities and get the shiny contributing member badge.

Will a IGT S2000 Key 17 EPROM Chip work for my board or is this for a different platform?

The Key 17 would work on both as far as I know.
