I have worked for Horizon Hobby for 34 years (I am not a technical representative of our company, I work in distribution). Nitro force is great for all kinds of stuff, it's similar to Electronics cleaner but it is designed to blast into motors and leave zero residue. It's fine for what you are doing.
One thing I'm unclear here. Is the advice that dunginhawk pull the eprom and spray clean the socket? If so, when pulling the eprom rock it out carefully and take an eraser to the legs to clean off years of oxidation.
Spray the socket and re-insert. As mentioned, be very careful not to break off the legs.
