New guy

 Hello All
New to this board and this hobby but did once rewire a pinball machine with a magnetic reed cheat switch in the NCO club and have a bit of an old school electrical background from the military, I am the latest owner of a bally 955-27. I have a feeling this machine has been passed down through the years with each new owner preforming some new modification to at least give it the appearance of a fully functioning machine  I intend on checking the entire wiring harness as soon as the schematics arrive. Does anyone know the significance of the 27 in the model number , are there 27 design changes hence the 955-27 ? or are these models based on the 955 base . I see bleed off resistors on some but not all of the relays, are some missing or are these the lower voltage relays .  Will any 955 wired coin hopper will work on any 955 machine or must it be for a 955-27.  I have a feeling it is not the original hopper .  And as long as I am on a roll ,does anyone have a coin hopper for sale for a bally 873
 Thanks and hello again

 Tony

Welcome to the Bally EM form.
Typically machines will have 4 to 8 resistors.
Post a photo of the machine when you get a chance.
The attachment is from a list of Bally model numbers.
As you can see the number after the dash in most cases represented a casino the machine was sold to.

Check to see if your hopper has any numbers ascribed or written or it.. They should match your games tag  I have had games where they didn't match but still worked   Best bet is to see if it works or host us a picture.. Usually hoppers for a different 955 won't work in another. That goes for all Bally EM Slots.. There was no universal wiring, but it could be a simple as the plugs are wired a little different. Same color wires, just in a different pin location.. You will also see that not all games used the same wire colors. If they ran out of one color they would sub out a different color on the next one..
Please remember to make a donation to NLG for mine/our help in repairing your machines problem.. Your donations help keep this site on line.
And remember...
If it's jammed, force it.. If it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyways...

Hello Lee

Wows that's  fantastic to know!  I guess for tax reasons they need to
account for every machine and who it's making money for as well as
any custom bells and whistles .  Photo ? Sure thing !

Hello Amechanic

The hopper had numbers in marker long since rubbed away
so I cannot read it all but If I had to guess its ??976? t 56.
It also had 2 orange wires shorting against the rack rail
2 shorted relay blades  , a bad diode and 1 loose mystery
wire off the Beau plug ,oh and one loose terminal in the
Beau plug itself which is also missing both its index/contacts pins
which I have jumpers on for now till I get a new beau plug

Yes I have started to noticed their creative wiring practices
I will solve as soon as the schematic arrives and I begin
to learn the theory of operation of this gadget
but if its just a re wiring of a hopper from a 955 to a 873
and that's it ,that's not too bad with a wiring diagram
