Author Topic: Slant top No power to crt screen or coin comparitor (Read 6033 times)

I acquired a IGT slant top. When its fired up everything turns on except the CRT screen and coin comparator no light is lit up green or red. BV runs through its sequence all the lights work on rest of machine but nothing on CRT screen or coin comparator. Any ideas? Thanks

Check (or swap) the machine power supply. You can also check to make sure you have power at the CRT plug by removing the monitor and (with machine on) check the plug to make sure it's getting juice to the plug. PLEASE BE CAREFUL PULLING/HANDLING A MONITOR! They DO BITE!!!! (Do a Search on proper way to pull and handle one.)

I believe there's a fuse on the monitor board that blows occasionally, so that's worth checking as well.

Looking at your picture, it looks like you have a Ceronix Chassis powering your monitor.. It should be a model 1492 model.. They do go bad.. Have you tried to play the game? I don't think you see the comparators light on till the door closes.. I would power on the game and wait for it to cycle, close the door, then try playing one or two coins, hit deal, then deal again since you can't see what cards to hold.. If it's just your Ceronix chassis, the machine should still play.. If it's anything else your game shouldn't work.. I did see some used IGT 1492 Ceronix chassis for sale on Ebay for $65.00? They would be a plug and play for your machine.. Hopefully it's not the monitor, They are getting very hard to find, and are not cheap.... Keep us posted..

I fired up the machine lights on and the bv cycled. I shut the hood put in a couple quarters and they just fall into the coin tray. Only thing I did notice is the red change light button is blinking with the lower candle light. Any ideas. Thanks

Nope no Monitor still dead to the world. I haven't checked for power yet i was short on time the other day. So in doing so I check if there is power at the plug where the monitor plugs in. OK this may sound dumb but can I just stick a volt meter on any contact in the plug or is there a certain one to read. Or a different approach?

I assume these games have a door optics on them. If the optics are reading the door as opened it will not accept coins. Also check the bill stacker for door optics as they can give fits also. I have some video stuff and the chassis is usually to blame for monitors not working. But if optics are causing the problems (broken wires misalignment etc.) By fixing that the machine should play even though you can't see what's going on. That would be a great big step forward.

Without knowing what the monitor is showing, you could have a mutiltude of errors. For all we know it could be in the middle of a pay, need a Handpay, have a hopper jam, BV stacker error, Coin error, or a Door open somewhere. Really hard (nearly impossible) to troubleshoot it without that monitor to guide you.

When you turn the machine off after its been on for a few minutes, do you see a white flash on the monitor?
