S2K Mucho Dinero pays don't alway match the strips
« on: April 15, 2016, 11:53:39 AM »
I've run into a problem with my Mucho Dinero S2000 3cn machine. When I got this in, it didn't have the SB chip. I thought I located the correct one, but now that its up and running, I've run into no pays and Phantom pays. I have the reel strip numbers;

#1 is;  4875/84669900
#2 is;  84670000/4876
#3 is;  84670000/4876

Game chip number I have is;  SB100269 3cn

I'm not sure what the problem is, hoping its just the wrong SB for the strips.. I'm posting pics of my strips, SB Chip and glass payout.

Thanks, Gary

Also catch a few pics of the incorrect pays. Is it possible the reel strip order is off? Perhaps it's BAB or BBA?

The first was a no pay.. The Mucho Dinero symbol came up on the third reel, and it didn't pay. The next time was a 15 credit pay for any Sevens on the pay line, but I didn't have 3 7's? I don't remember what was where, but I don't think it was just a third reel problem. The reel strips have not turned on the reel, first thing I checked..

I found an old post (by 777sizzler) for the same issue referencing the reel strips and the SB100269. Oddball strip number goes on reel 1 according to another poster, however, it was not confirmed wether or not this solved the erroneous pays. (And strip numbers were never stated).

It sure sounds like a strip issue, but since you've checked for alignment, I'm about out of suggestions. All it could be is strips or the wrong SB! I haven't seen anything to imply the SB # is incorrect! but ?? Reels reset to Home position correctly?

Strips are in the right order. 100269 is the correct base chip if that is actually what is on that chip. I recently had a customers Triple Double Stars machine that wasn't paying right. I read the chip & it was SB100008 instead of 100272 as it was labeled. Whoever labeled it can't spell Dinero. Could be the wrong file. Mucho Dinero is a clone of Tabasco but strips are indexed differently.

Your looking at the person who can't spell.  :duh: I even had the machine sitting right in front of me. As for the SB chip I had that done at a friends house since I don't have a burner yet.. I had help finding the correct bin file here. It was marked as SB100269, but like I said I didn't make it up. Here are sample pay errvors on this machine:

1st pic show three 7's that should only pay 15 credits, registers 750 credits. The third reel think its a Mucho Denero symbol. That would pay 375 doubled..

2nd pic shows a 6 credit win on a purple & green 7.. It should have been the Mucho Denero symbol.

3rd pic shows a Mucho Denero symbol in the third reel, but does not pay

4th pis shows three yellow & red 7's but only pays 15 credits instead of 225 credits

5th pic shows three 7 paying 225 credits, but shoul only be 15?

Everything seems to be the third reel falth..

Just double checked my Tabasco. The odd strip definitely goes in the #1 position. Are you 100% sure that third strip is in the index mark? Sometimes you can mistake another bump on the reel basket for the mark. I'm out of answers otherwise. Hope you get it figured out.

To me it looks to be mounted correct, but I will take it off and double check. I have noticed that the third reel seems to stop hard compared to the first 2 do? I will see if I have a spare reel to put that 3rd strip on, and try it again.

Make sure the strips are indexed correctly on the baskets,  Know you have done that before!.  Verify proper base chip program,  If all that is good, For giggles put odd-ball # strip in reel 3 position. (sure you already tried?).  (just move the reels with strips on them).

Gary you may want to check the reels and make sure they are not from a slant top.

The correct strip order is A-B-B and the strip numbers you posted are for that SB. (Verified by PAR)

Press white test button, go into (1) Accounting.. Program Version Accounting ... SB # to confirm you have correct SB

Then check actual reels

Ok here's what I just tried. I removed the strip from the 3rd reel basket. It was on the locating notch. Reinstalled the strip. I noticed that the 3rd reels really hard to remove and install. I used a small file and remove some excess plastic causing the problem. Once I put it back together and played it for a while, it stopped on the Mucho Dinero symbol on reel 3 and it paid the 6 credits.. Did four the next 4 time too.. So far no phantom payouts, but I've only hit mixed 7's and the Mucho symbols, no matching 7's. I've ran off over 250 credits without a problem. Could that 3rd reel have not been making a good connection? I'll have to play it again tomorrow, still have 500 credit to play with.
I'll keep yea posted..

As far as connection, Not likely as you would have had reel tilt errors etc.  I guess you did verify proper base chip?. The only thing that times these is the proper software and the opto  and flags on the plastic reel baskets and of course proper reel strip placement.

Went into accounting this morning. This is what I found for the Base chip..
PV3 Base SB100269  E98FSo it seems that I have the correct SB Chip. I going to play it a little more to see if it acts up again. If it does I'll try a different 3rd reel assembly..

It sure sounds like that 3rd reel is the culprit. Especially with the hard stop. If any of the plastic encoders are broken on the back of the basket the optic won't read the stops correctly.

RB.. Thanks for the input.. I have a question concerning this machine.. I've been getting a random NO DISPLAY message on startup, and I noticed that I had 7 Bill Val Errors in the accounting section.. I did read somewhere that a bad Bill Validator cable could cause this message. It was an old post by Buzz.. Would that be the cable assembly with the plug in the back of the cash box that the transport plugs into?

Can't be sure but if it is bad wiring the first thing I would look at is the small harness on the back of the WBA frame that links the transport to the machine harness. I have had that message caused by a BV before but it was my fault for installing a WBA 13 transport with an RS-232 card attached to it. Removed the card & it went away. You could also inspect the main harness on the transport itself & be sure all dip switches are off.
