electrolytic capacitor info

i have this cap and need to know if I can use it - reason has 5 tabs - the markings say CAN NEG - does that mean that the can itself is the ground and 4 tabs ground there?   I plan on using this cap on a Bally E-series power supply.

If 4 of the the tabs are the can .... then yes. If the info on it indicates only one rating also yes.

20 volt might be a bit too low. The E supply uses 25 to 35 volt parts. It's the voltage spike that deteriorates the electrolyte, so a higher working voltage rating is desirable.

You can use anything from about 10,000 to 20,000 mfd. parts for the E series supply.

Watch the current rating on the bridge though. 8 amp bridges run too hot. I use 35 amp bridges when I build the E supply.

Ramegoom makes a good point, NEVER put under voltage caps in any circuit. Over=good, under=bad
